Diana Ross is coming out (on tour) – she wants the world to know.
After 11 years, the legendary singer will visit a string of UK arenas in 2020 following her “legends” slot at Glastonbury next summer.
And she admits she is “no stranger to the UK”, before adding: “I spent many years living there with my husband, Arne Naess, and my family. It was a glorious
time. My children were in school in Europe.
“I have great friends there. And I have a memory of my performance at the Royal Albert Hall with my daughter Rhonda in my arms. That vision will always stay with me.
“I have many loving and wonderful memories and look forward to creating more.” The Diamond Diana Top Of The World Tour – which includes dates in Leeds, Manchester and London – could earn her more than £50million.
And the 75-year-old says her stage shows will be inspired by nature.
“I see beauty all around me,” she purrs. “I love colour and things that make me feel good. Sometimes I need inspiration and I find that inspiration in nature, in the sky, in the ocean or in the colours of
the sunset.”
Diana – who shot to fame as one third of The Supremes – has a reputation as a fearsome diva. Glitzy, glamorous with a few tantrums on the side.
(The story about how she allegedly jumped into a swimming pool wearing a fur coat and evening gown is a corker).
Diva antics aside, I’m told Diana will be rigorously preparing for her upcoming tour.
Riders are likely to consist of lots of kiwi fruit (used as eye compresses – her favourite), cream orchids, and broiled chicken.
And there could be a few very special guests. Can’t wait
