Dean McDermott is done bowing to 'entitled' Tori Spelling's 'demands'

EXCLUSIVE: Dean McDermott is tired of bowing to ‘entitled’ Tori Spelling’s endless ‘demands’ and being ‘taken for granted’ – and has told friends their marriage is OVER after realizing that ‘nothing he does will ever be good enough for her’

  • Dean, 56, took to Instagram on June 16 and shared a since-deleted post about him and Tori, 50, splitting up
  • The mother of Dean’s five kids – Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, six – didn’t acknowledge him on Father’s Day two days later
  • Now, a mutual friend of the couple has told DailyMail.com that the marriage is over and that Dean has grown tired of trying to meet Tori’s ‘demands’

Dean McDermott has reached his boiling point with wife Tori Spelling and, after 18 years of bowing down to her ‘demands’ may be walking away from their marriage fpr good – telling friends that ‘nothing he ever does will be good enough for her.’

According to a close mutual friend of the couple, Dean, 56, feels as though he has done everything in his power to make his wife happy, but believes that his efforts have not been reciprocated in any way.

‘Dean has changed and worked very hard to be the husband she needed him to be but she is still demanding and entitled. Nothing he does or has done will ever be good enough for her,’ the insider told DailyMail.com exclusively.

Canadian actor Dean first hinted that his troubled marriage may be headed for the end on June 16 when he claimed on Instagram that he and Tori had split in a post that was quickly deleted.

Tori, 50, and Dean, who tied the knot in 2006, have never had the easiest marriage, with every aspect of the roller coaster romance played out in a very bitter and public way, something that the source says has taken a serious ‘toll’ on the actor.

‘For a very long time Tori used their marital problems to stay relevant,’ the source said.

‘Everyone knew about their issues, and she didn’t play it down, she played it – even going so far to go outside where she knew paparazzi were waiting holding papers that were a clear indication of a divorce. This really took a toll on Dean.’

Behind the scenes, the insider claims that the couple have been struggling with financial issues and the daunting duty of raising their children, stating: ‘Tori did not feel like Dean was holding his weight at the time.

‘She kept wanting more and more, and from Tori’s perspective, she always just felt like Dean wasn’t carrying his half. She feels like she had to raise all their children on her own and, for the most part, she is right.’

Dean’s professional life has certainly become more demanding in recent years, with the actor landing a major role as Detective Barry Hamm on Canadian TV show Pretty Hard Cases in 2021, before securing a part in the movie My Fake Boyfriend alongside Sarah Hyland and Dylan Sprouse the following year.

According to the insider, Tori had been pushing Dean to secure more roles in order to ‘support’ their family – but was less than thrilled when those jobs took him away from home and began insisting that he spend more time with her and their five children, Liam, 16, Stella, 15, Hattie, 11, Finn, 10, and Beau, six.

‘She wanted him to start working and bring home money to support their family and he landed major role in a Canadian TV series and some big movie parts,’ the source said. ‘She wanted him to be a better father to their kids and he has devoted all his free time to them.

‘She wanted him to be more romantic and he would go out of his way to bring her flowers, constantly showering he with gifts to show her how much he loved her and it finally sunk in.’

In December 2022, Tori shared photos on her social media with Dean and the kids. It was the first time in years she included him in her snaps and fans were delighted to see that the two were working it out.

In September 2022, Tori was photographed with her mom Candy Spelling – who she was estranged from for seven years prior – and her brother Randy Spelling.

On Wednesday, Tori was seen unpacking a truck full of belongings at a friends house in Pasadena, California. Her shirt read, ‘What in the actual f*** is going on.’

On Saturday, Dean posted this message on Instagram, letting fans know that he split with Tori. The post was removed less than 24 hours later but it’s message has not changed, says a source

According to the source, ‘Dean was instrumental in helping Tori fix the broken relationship with her mom and brother.

‘Tori finally let him love her, and things were going great between them.  But then she started taking him for granted and it went downhill quickly.’

Representatives for Dean and Tori did not respond to repeated requests for comment.

On Wednesday, Tori and her kids were photographed unpacking a truck full of their  belongings at a friends house in Pasadena, California. Tori looked visibly upset and was wearing a yellow shirt that had the words, ‘What the actual f*** is going on’ written on it.

This was just five days after Dean shared a statement to Instagram, confirming his separation with Tori. It read, ‘It’s with great sadness and a very very heavy heart that after 18 years together and 5 amazing children, that @torispelling and I have decided to go our separate ways, and start a new journey of our own.

‘We will continue to work together as loving parents and guide and love our children through this difficult time. We ask that you all respect our privacy as we take this time to surround our family with love and work our way through this. Thank you all for your support and kindness.’

The day after Dean’s Instagram post, Tori’s actions spoke louder than any words she could have said when she didn’t wish Dean a Happy Father’s Day. Aside from the five children he shares with Tori, Dean is also father to son, Jack, 24, and daughter Lola, 17, whom he shares with ex, Mary Jo Eustace.

The split comes after years of claims the power couple was on the rocks, a rumor that they dispelled as recently as just one day ago, when Tori shared a snap of them together with their children.

In 2021, Dean landed a major role on the Canadian TV series Pretty Hard Cases. ‘Tori wanted him to start working and bring home money to support their family and he did,’ a source says

Dean (on the cover of one of his cookbooks) often makes meals for his family.  ‘She kept wanting more and more,’ the insider reveals to DailyMail.com

Thanking the Beverly Hills hotel for their hospitality, she wrote: ‘Family time is the best time and @beverlyhilton you continue to always make us feel like true family. We love you! xoxo.’

Tori previously married actor Charlie Shanian in 2004, but the former couple divorced in 2006 after the actress met Dean.

Tori and Dean met and began their affair while working on a Lifetime movie in 2005 – when they were both married to other people.

The stars got married in a private ceremony in Fiji on May 7 2006, less than a month after Tori finalized her divorce from Charlie, and following Dean’s split from Mary.

The couple remained together despite being buffeted by divorce rumors and reports of financial problems over the years.

They also starred in the reality series titled, Tori & Dean: Home Sweet Hollywood, which aired from 2007 until 2012.

In late 2013, it was revealed that Dean had an affair on Tori, but the two chose to work through the infidelity to keep their marriage in tact.

However, in 2021, the BH90210 actress admitted on SiriusXM’s Jeff Lewis Live, that both she and her husband were sleeping in separate beds.

She told Lewis during the interview, ‘Right now, my kids and dogs sleep in my bed,’ and added that Dean was, ‘in a room.’

A source told Entertainment Tonight at the time, ‘Tori and Dean do things as a family for the sake of their kids and live in the same house but sleep in separate rooms. Tori is more vocal about what goes on between them, and Dean is just completely checked out.’

The insider continued that the two stars were, ‘very much struggling,’ and explained, ‘Dean has been caught in so many lies and infidelities over the years and Tori is just over it.

‘Dean does not want to get divorced because of financial reasons, and Tori doesn’t want to for the sake of their family,’ the source stated.

In June 2022 it was claimed that Tori and Dean – who wed in 2006 – had split, with a source telling UsWeekly they were ‘going through with a trial separation.’

It was shared at the time: ‘She hasn’t been doing social things anymore. She seems to be isolating herself. She’s been so MIA that they’re worried something’s going on – if she’s having money troubles again or is depressed,’ the source said.

Earlier this year in March, a separate source gave an update on their relationship and told ET, ‘they are still doing their best to make it work.’

The insider said: ‘Marriage counselling has been a huge part of how they are trying to work things out, and so far, it’s gone fairly well.

‘Their kids are doing well. Everyone is doing their best to keep things afloat and live a life that’s as normal as possible and trying to stay happy.’

When Tori lost her dad – famous producer Aaron Spelling – in 2006, she infamously inherited just $800,000 of his vast fortune estimated at $600 million.

Tori’s mother Candy, who was the executor of Aaron’s estate, told the New York Times that her daughter got so little because of her extravagance.

She said that Tori ‘would close a store and drop $50,000 to $60,000,’ insisting: ‘I never did anything like that. She just went crazy.’

Tori shared in her own 2013 book Spelling It Like It Is that she had been forced to learn to tighten the purse strings – but not without discomfort.

She wrote: ‘It’s not my fault I’m an uptown girl stuck in a midtown life. I was raised in opulence. My standards are ridiculously high. We can’t afford that lifestyle, but when you grow up silver spoon it’s hard to go plastic.’
