Matteo Darmian has left Manchester United fans – and everyone else who follows him on Twitter, for that matter – absolutely baffled this Thursday.
The Red Devils were in action in the Champions League on Tuesday, where they were beaten 1-0 by Serie A leaders Juventus, in Cristiano Ronaldo’s homecoming.
On Wednesday the Champions League was underway once again as Tottenham drew 2-2 with PSV Eindhoven and Liverpool thumped Red Star Belgrade 4-0.
And on Thursday the Champions League had a night off as Europe’s second competition got underway – with both Arsenal and Chelsea involved in the Europa League.
Darmian, who played no part in Manchester United’s defeat on Tuesday, appears to be getting competition withdrawal symptoms, at least that’s what his Twitter page would suggest.
Either that or he’s just really, really excited about next week.
Posting a picture of himself sitting on the bench, the Italian wrote: "Looking forward to UCL Manchester United."
It seems the most likely explanation is that the tweet was supposed to be posted ahead of Tuesday’s Champions League clash, but whoever scheduled it to go live clicked October 25 instead of 23.

But it’s sparked some laughter on social media nonetheless, with his followers all reacting in exactly the same way.
One wrote: "The Old Trafford WiFi really is poor," while another added: "Using Windows 98 fella?" A third said: "We’re not in the Europa League just yet pal."
And a fourth concluded: "When scheduling a tweet goes wrong!"
