‘He’s living in the dark ages!’ Craig Revel Horwood hits back at Len Goodman as they clash over ‘sexed-up’ version of Strictly Come Dancing
He was a judge on the BBC competition for 12 years until he left in 2016.
And, after Len Goodman, 75, admitted he wants Strictly Come Dancing to go ‘back to its roots’ after incorporating ‘too much sexiness,’ Craig Revel Horwood, 54, hit back, claiming that the former head judge is ‘living in the dark ages!’
Len admitted that he wanted to be able to give critique on technique rather than just the performance of what he labelled ‘strange dancing,’ but Craig praised the evolution of Strictly, insisting: ‘it’s an entertainment show!’

Speaking about how Strictly has evolved, Len told Mirror Online: ‘It’s not only sex, I used to hate it even if a swing was involved and they were sitting on a swing. And props, going down on one knee, giving them a rose. Get on with it!’
‘I liked Strictly as it was’ added the television personality, before grumbling: ‘I don’t want to judge strange dancing.’
Discussing the changes which he witnessed during his time on Strictly, Len lamented the loss of skill and expertise in favour of performance.
‘It wasn’t about technique or anything, it was all about the performance, and I didn’t want to judge just on performance.’
Having none of it: Craig Revel Horwood, 54, hit back in response, claiming that the former head judge is ‘living in the dark ages!’

Earlier this month, Craig Revel Horwood gave his predictions for who will lift the Glitterball trophy this year.
Writing for the Radio Times, the judge says he’s been most impressed by Emmerdale star, and last minute sign-up for the show, Kelvin Fletcher.
Craig, who has been a Strictly judge since the show started in 2004, points out that the standard among this year’s celebs has been higher than ever, as proven by the fact he hasn’t need to get his ‘1’ paddle out so far this series.
‘They all want to win. It’s quite competitive, and they’re all applying themselves like you would not believe,’ an impressed Craig writes.
Craig went on to say that he can see Kelvin, who earned 32 out of 40 for his first dance, winning the series.
He predicted: ‘if he reaches the final and dances the salsa, then I can definitely see him lifting the Glitterball trophy. Plus he’s loved by the nation.’
