Chaka Khan says she sleeps in ‘granny gowns’

Funky diva Chaka Khan revealed at a top fashion event that these days, she sleeps in “granny gowns” when it comes to her boudoir routine.

“I go to bed and put on my granny gown. I have a granny gown and a hat. Yes, it is a silk bonnet, and I make some tea and take myself to bed,” she told Page Six.

Khan performed at the Lincoln Center Fashion Gala in honor of Coach Creative Director Stuart Vevers on Thursday night at Alice Tully Hall.

The “I Feel for You” singer also shared with us how she feels about other divas.

“I am not even competing, baby, this is no competition.”

The legend mused of her fame: “It has its good and its bad side when it comes to being a household name. I don’t want to expand on the bad. But what really intrigues me is that little kids are into my music, and I like that. That means that I am doing something right.”

She says of her fans, “The song that people want me to sing all the time is ‘I Feel for You.’”

Whoopi Goldberg hosted the event, where guests included Harper’s Bazaar editor Glenda Bailey, hot designer Gabriela Hearst, Tommy Hilfiger and wife Dee Ocleppo, illustrator Benjamin Seidler, Jon Batiste, as well as Bill Ford and Marigay McKee.
