She’s outspoken in pretty much everything she does.
And Thursday night was no exception, when rapper extraordinaire Cardi B received the coveted Woman Of The Year award at Billboard’s virtual Women in Music event.
The Bodak Yellow hitmaker, 28, gave a speech posted to her Instagram that was at once inspirational and candid, in which she admitted that 2020 ‘messed up’ her ‘creative space’.

‘I had so many things planned,’ she said, later adding that ‘unfortunately due to Covid, I couldn’t put out the visuals the way that I wanted.
She continued to say that she was ‘grateful and thankful’ that the song she ‘actually DID put out this year,’ WAP, was so successful.
Not only did it break so many records, Cardi reflected, but additionally ‘it was just a conversation that I never thought it was gonna be so big!’
‘I mean, it pissed off a whole bunch of Republicans for no reason, you know what I’m saying? It was just weird,’ she added with a laugh.

In the caption to her post, Cardi wrote, ‘Thank you so much @Billboard for this honor and @tamikalpalmer for presenting it to me!
‘I am also extremely grateful to [social justice leader] @tamikamallory and @aliciakeys for inviting me to the call where I got the chance to meet Tamika Palmer and hear Breonnas [sic] whole story for the first time’, she continued.
‘So many black men and women are wrongfully killed everyday with no consequence. Every one of you women inspire me! Thank you!’ Cardi concluded.
