Cameron Diaz wants to ‘normalize’ married couples sleeping in separate bedrooms… and reveals if it’s her and Benji Madden’s lifestyle
Cameron Diaz thinks a married couple’s choice to sleep in separate rooms should be ‘normalized’ — but admits it’s not something her and husband Benji Madden do.
The actress, 51, shared the ‘controversial’ take on the recent episode of model Molly Sims’ podcast as they chatted about what they consider to be healthy lifestyles.
‘We should normalize separate bedrooms,’ said Diaz before sharing her reasoning with Sims and co-host Emese Gormley.
‘To me, I would literally, I have my house, you have yours,’ she confessed. ‘We have the family house in the middle. I will go and sleep in my room. You go sleep in your room. I’m fine.’
‘And we have the bedroom in the middle that we can convene in for our relations,’ the mother-of-one concluded.

Sims said that her audience may be taken aback by Diaz’s ideal living arrangement.
But Diaz later clarified that it doesn’t apply to her marriage to Madden, 44.
‘By the way, I don’t feel that way now because my husband is so wonderful. I said that before I got married,’ she told Sims.
Madden, who is the lead guitarist and backing vocalist of the band Good Charlotte, married Diaz in 2015 — just 10 months after being introduced by Nicole Richie.
Richie is married to Benji’s twin brother Joel Madden.
While appearing on Anna Faris’ podcast in 2021, the star recalled the meeting and how she found Benji ‘so hot.’
And the attraction only intensified as she she got to know him.
‘when I saw…who he was, that’s what made me really be like, “Oh you, you’re special, you’re the guy, you’re the hidden gem in my life,’ she gushed to her actress pal.

She previously said that marrying the rocker was ‘the best thing that’s ever happened’ to her.
Diaz and Madden welcomed their first child, daughter Raddix, now three, in 2020.
During a sit-down with Gucci Westman that same year, the Shrek star said that she ‘[loves] being a mother’ and that it’s become ‘the best, best, best part of my life.’
She continued: ‘I’m so grateful and so happy and it’s the best thing ever and I’m so lucky to do it with Benj and we’re having the best time. I’m thrilled. I can’t believe it.’
Diaz retired from acting in 2018 to focus on family.
She shocked fans this year when she returned to the limelight to shoot the Netflix film Back In Action with co-star Jamie Foxx — only to re-retire once filming wrapped.
Diaz and her family were spotted on a rare outing together in November of this year.
They were photographed running errands in Montecito, where they live in a stunning $12.67 Million mansion.
