‘I sort of froze’: Ben Shephard reveals he saw his Good Morning Britain co-host Kate Garraway TOPLESS and kept it quiet for 20 years

Ben Shephard has revealed that he accidentally saw his Good Morning Britain co-host Kate Garraway but didn’t tell a soul for 20 years.

The presenter, 44, shared that he was at his co-star’s, 52, house when he saw her with no top on in her kitchen yet she didn’t notice that he had seen.

‘I sort of froze, panicked… walked away really embarrassed. It became a thing in my head… I couldn’t tell her,’ he told the Mirror.

He eventually let it slip to radio DJ Chris Moyles after a few drinks years after and Kate said he was nervous breaking the news to her.

She added: ‘He was sweating buckets… the idea he’s seen me naked all this time and I never knew… we’re like brother and sister. I’m so glad it was before I had kids.’

Also in the interview, Kate praised Ben’s quick wit on air and she was on the receiving end when he made a joke about an on-air risqué incident between the two.

In 2016, Ben accidentally flashed the mother-of-two’s ‘huge’ knickers when he pretended to throw her into an ice bath.

‘I showed the world your pants. You got a book deal off the back of that – and I’ve not had my cut yet!’ he joked.

The pair became close when Ben was co-hosting GMTV’s Entertainment Today segment with Jenny Faulkner, and Kate was a presenter on the main show.

In 2009, when GMTV relaunched, she co-hosted the programme with Ben, presenting on Monday, Tuesday and alternate Wednesdays.

Having began in 1998, Ben recently decided to scale back his long presenting career, stepping down from his post on football show Goals on Sunday after nine years to spend more time with his family.

The star is the face of several other hit TV shows including Ninja Warrior UK and Tipping Point and said he was ‘shattered’ due to his workload.

He shares his sons Jack, 12, and Sam, 14, with wife Annie Perks, whom he married in 2004.

‘Doing Goals on Sunday has been amazing, but I can see that not only will we all benefit as a family but I’ll benefit too from being more involved in their weekend life,’ Ben said of his boys to the Mirror in a past interview in June.

Kate recently revealed that she has been enjoying life in her fifties and is even looking forward to the menopause.

Speaking to The Sun’s Fabulous, she said women need to ’embrace’ getting older and that there has never been a better time to be a woman in her fifties.

‘At some point, bits of you are going to go wrong, but I’ve had friends who’ve had breast cancer and a friend who didn’t make it to fifty, so we need to celebrate getting older,’ she said.

She went on to say the menopause was ‘not the end’ anymore, as progress in treatment and scientific research have her hopeful that her own experience will be a positive one.

‘There are actually lots of studies that show the menopause is a great thing and it rewires the brain in a positive way,’ she said.

In her personal life as well, Garraway said sex gets better as a woman gets older.

‘When you’re younger you want to be impressive, but when you’re older I think there’s a different kind of intimacy.’

The Loose Women panelist has been vocal about her sex life with husband Derek Draper in the past, even revealing that the pair have a go at minding their own ‘sex schedule’ in order to make time for intimacy.

She said the couple ‘forced’ themselves to have sex once a day but eventually had to slow down after Derek broke his ankle – in an incident unrelated to their daily romps.

After the injury occurred, they used the time they had reserved for each other to talk.

Draper and Garraway met back in 2004, on a date that was arranged by friend and colleague Gloria de Perio.

But Kate revealed that because of a miscommunication, Derek thought he would be going on a date with ITV’s then weather girl Andrea McClean.
