As noted Wednesday night, Ben Affleck has checked into rehab for a third time.
The 46-year-old actor agreed to get help when estranged wife Jennifer Garner, also 46, staged an intervention at his Pacific Palisades home. She was assisted by a sober coach.
According to an UsWeekly source, this was a welcome moment:
“Ben has been struggling, and it got to a point where he wanted help and knew he needed help.”
As for why Garner would take the time to help the man she’s separated from? Well, despite his recent outings with a Playboy model, the source insists:
“Jen has always been there for Ben.”
Clearly the actress wants what’s best for her children, and that means whatever is best for their father’s health — which also explains why she has no rush to officially divorce him.
The source also says Jen drove him to the rehab center in Malibu, but not before stopping at a Jack in the Box on the way. (Sorry, Shauna Sexton… we hope you didn’t think you were the only one sharing those sacred moments with him!)
