Bebe Rexha, 29, poses in lingerie after a male music executive said she was ‘too old’ for sharing sexy photos… then adds a quote from Carrie Fisher
Bebe Rexha shared a strong message to her Instagram account on Monday.
The singer revealed a male music executive had recently told her she was ‘too old’ to be sharing sexy photos on social media. Bebe is only 29-years-old.
The hitmaker retaliated by sharing a very racy image of herself in lingerie for her 8.9M followers as she added in her caption that she was ‘tired of women getting labeled as “hags” when they get old and guys get labeled as sexy with age.’
Take that! Bebe Rexha took aim at a male music executive who shamed her for posting sexy pictures in an Instagram post on Monday
She added: ‘There’s no age that you can’t be sexy.’
According Bebe, the executive said that posting sizzling photos was not what ‘female songwriters are suppose to do,’ especially for her age.
She hit back at the pigeonholing in the entertainment industry and the culture that shames women for ageing but praises men for doing the same.
Stop being ageist: Along with a black and white underwear photo the Last Hurrah singer called out the unnamed executive who told her she ‘was getting too old’ and that her ‘brand was “confusing,”‘ because of how she presents herself online
‘I’m fed up with being put in a box. I make my own rules,’ she said. ‘I’m tired of women getting labeled as “hags” when they get old and guys get labeled as sexy with age.’
The New York City native stood her ground and ahead of her 30th birthday, later this month, she promised to stayed true to herself and not make music simply because it would sell more.
‘Anyways, I’m turning 30 on August 30 and you know what, I’m not running away from it,’ Bebe said. ‘I’m not gonna lie about my age or sing songs that I feel will sell better because they sound “younger.”’
Twitter needs this too: As well as her Insta post the songwriter also took to Twitter to add ‘There’s no age that you can’t be sexy’
She continued saying that with age she has gained wisdom, strength and skills in the love department.
‘I’m gonna celebrate my age because you know what, I’m wiser, I’m stronger and TRUST ME I’m a much better lover than I was 10 years ago,’ she ended the post.
‘I’m not scared to speak out. Especially if it’s my truth,’ she said in a tweet.
Power from the Princess: She also shared a quote from Carrie Fisher on her Stories that said ‘Men don’t age better than women, they’re just allowed to’

This is not the first time the I Got You songstress has taken to social to call out unfair views or practices.
Ahead of the Grammy’s this year, which provided her with her first singing nomination, she shared a video that called out designers who refused to dress her because she was ‘too big.’
Not her first call out: Ahead of the Grammy’s this year, which provided her with her first singing nomination, she shared a video that called out designers who refused to dress her because she was ‘too big’
She said ‘If a size 6/8 is too big… then I don’t want to wear you f****n dresses.’
In the caption she elaborated to say ‘Don’t say you can’t dress someone that isn’t a runway size. Empower women to love their bodies instead of making girls and women feel less then by their size. We are beautiful any size!’
Bebe has also hit back at the Instagram culture of photoshopping and airbrushing to make bodies look thinner. She shared a bikini photo that was unedited and said ‘society can really f*** with you.’
I hate photoshop: Bebe has also hit back at the Instagram culture of photoshopping and airbrushing to make bodies look thinner. She shared a bikini photo that was unedited and said ‘society can really f*** with you’
The caption read: ‘I probably should of photoshopped my stomach and made it look flat. I probably should of photoshopped my legs to make them look thinner. I probably should of made myself look taller and Smoothed my legs. But I didn’t. … Here is what a real woman looks like on Instagram without photoshop.’
She is currently on tour with the Jonas Brothers and their Happiness Begins tour, which started last week.
