Mayor de Blasio was right to fire Department of Investigation Commissioner Mark Peters, according to lawyer Arthur Aidala.
“If I was going to use one word to describe Mark Peters, it would be ‘putz,’ ” Aidala said on Joe Piscopo’s radio show on AM 970.
“He’s not a good guy. All he was looking to do was run for higher office.”
Aidala, who has worked for clients investigated by the DOI, said, “Usually, it’s a very clean, white-collar type of office. He was trying to turn it into a political steppingstone. Not too many hearts are breaking.”
Peters claimed in a letter to the City Council on Monday that de Blasio fired him to halt ongoing investigations and intimidate his successor from exposing wrongdoing.
