Ant McPartlin has revealed how his drink-driving arrest created tensions to flare with his long-time best friend Declan Donnelly.
The Britain’s Got Talent host, 43, admitted that his presenting partner was left furious following his crash in March last year while more than twice the alcohol limit.
Speaking to The Sun, Ant said: ‘He’s angry, of course he’s angry. But it’s justified and I understood it.

‘Underneath all of that is love and still is love. And that’s what we talked about more than anything.’

In March last year Ant was involved in a road traffic collision in London, after which he was arrested on suspicion of drink-driving.
He later pleaded guilty to the offence, was fined £86,000 and banned from driving for 20 months, and announced he would be taking a break from television presenting duties until 2019.
Dec, 43, went on to present Saturday Night Takeaway, Britain’s Got Talent and I’m a Celebrity…Get Me Out Of Here without the star while he entered into rehab.
Ant explained ‘I’m very lucky that I’ve got an understanding business partner and best friend who said, “Absolutely, your head is more important than anything.” I had to lock myself away.’

The tensions between the pair, who first started working together at the age of 13, thankfully didn’t last as Ant explained the presenting duo are now ‘closer than ever before’.
He credited Dec with being ‘so supportive and brilliant’ through his struggle, resulting in a stronger relationship.
The star returned to work with Dec on Friday as he attended the first day of auditions for Britain’s Got Talent.

Taking to the stage, Ant said: ‘Hello everyone. Oh God, I’m really, really emotional now. I’ve missed you all.’
Turning to Dec, he said: ‘As for you, I’ve missed you. Thank you very much, what a warm welcome.
‘What a great show to come back to, I’m thrilled, I’m over the moon. Shall we move on before I cry?’
The pair then hugged on stage as the audience cheered.
