British 90s band look unrecognisable 27 years after the siblings’ pop album stormed the charts

Two siblings who formed a pop band in the 90s look unrecognisable in new social media images – 27 years after their album stormed into the charts.

They famously had hits such as I Am, I Feel and Indestructible and while one singer was famously a redhead and the other a blonde, they look strikingly similar to one another now they have matching hair. 

That’s right, they are Shelly, 51, and Karen Poole, 52, who formed 90s band, Alisha’s Attic.

Their album, Alisha Rules the World, was released in 1996. 

Sisters Shelly and Karen were raised in Barking in the UK and their father Brian Poole, was in the band, Brian Poole and the Tremeloes.

Shelly was famously the bold red-headed member of the band and Karen the blonde, but both look very similar to one another with matching blonde locks. 

The band earned themselves a Brit nomination and an Ivor Novello nomination for writing the million-seller single I Am, I Feel – Their album reached position 14 in the charts. 

Shelly has been married to Ally McErlaine, the lead guitarist from the Scottish band Texas since 2001.

She has written songs for Westlife, Boyzone, Mark Ronson and Massive Attack and released her solo album, Hard Time for the Dreamer, in 2005. 

Shelley and her husband are now in the band, Red Sky July. 

In 2012, Ally revealed the inspiration behind his ‘miracle’ comeback from a near-fatal brain haemorrhage – which was to record an album with his Shelly.

He surprised medics when he made a complete physical and mental recovery after collapsing from the most severe form of aneurism in September 2009.

According to the Daily Record, doctors treating Ally were stunned because they had only ever seen one person survive a Grade 5 aneurysm.

Shelly later wrote an e-book based on her experiences helping Ally, called The Miracle, and said she used prayer and Buddhist chants to help him recover.

Ally said: ‘Shelly’s book is called The Miracle. She felt there was nothing else she could call it.’

Karen has written hits for Kylie Minogue, Becky Hill, David Guetta, Lily Allen, and the Sugababes, to name a few. 

The talented writer also co-wrote for the musical Bridget Jones’ Diary in 2015, in collaboration with Lily Allen and Greg Kurstin.

She is in a relationship with musical composer David Etherington, with whom she has a daughter called Rose.
