They say that if you really want to get to know your partner, you should see their competitiveness. Whether you witness them competing against the on-screen contestants of Jeopardy, battle them during a ruthless game of Monopoly, or simply see their spirit come out during a sports game, that competitive edge in your partner is something to watch for. 90 Day Fiancé favorites Elizabeth and Andrei certainly got that memo.
Elizabeth and Andrei were one of the 24 couples from the 90 Day Fiancé universe that took part in the new show Love Games, set to stream on Discovery+. Hosted by Suki Krishnan, Love Games pits the 90 Day Fiancé couples against each other in a fiery competition, each couple expected to answer juicy and expository questions about themselves and each other. In an exclusive sit down with The List, Elizabeth and Andrei revealed what it was like to compete together as a team, how they approached the questions and the competition, and, of course, what it was like to interact with the other 90 Day Fiancé couples.
So was everything peachy during Love Games? Or did some couples buckle under the pressure of competition? Did Elizabeth and Andrei put up a united front, or were there cracks in their competition approach? Wonder no more, because Elizabeth and Andrei revealed what it was like to compete against other 90 Day Fiancé couples during Love Games.
Elizabeth and Andrei were a united team when competing on Love Games
It seems that couples who can compete together, stay together — and that is certainly the case for Elizabeth and Andrei. The couple revealed to The List that they were a united front during Love Games and worked as a team, a challenge that they had never experienced before in a competition setting. “We’ve only ever done little board games here and there. We’ve never done something so competitive. So for us, it was new as a couple,” Elizabeth said. “I think everyone’s learning about each other through the process, and it makes it that much more fun.”
Of course, the couple capitalized on Andrei’s competitive spirit while battling it out with the other 90 Day Fiancé couples, something that Andrei described as an “awesome” project to be a part of. “It was a challenge, and it was a competition, and I love competing,” Andrei told The List. “I’m very driven when I compete, and do everything. I like to make it happen.” But with Andrei’s competitive fire came what he described as a “well balanced” dynamic between himself and Elizabeth, due in part to just how well the couple know one another. Was their united approach enough to score the Love Games cup? Time will tell.
The 90 Day couples revealed silly sides of themselves while competing with each other
Fans of 90 Day Fiancé and the 90 Day franchise know that drama, seriousness, high stakes, and tension are integral ingredients that make the shows as riveting as they are. There’s nothing like watching a couple overcome hurdles together, discover their differences and similarities, and, of course, there’s nothing quite as satisfying as watching a 90 Day Fiancé couple make it down the aisle. But unlike typical 90 Day Fiancé shows that bring the high stakes and the drama, Love Games brings a silly side out of the contestants, according to Elizabeth and Andrei. The couple told The List that despite the fiery competition of Love Games, the couples competing got to show different sides of their relationships and dynamics.
“It was nice to see other people, and see the other side of television,” Andrei said. “We had a couple of minutes to mingle and say, ‘Hey, what’s going on?’ And then like a couple of sentences can be exchanged before the contest starts, and it was pretty cool. I enjoyed the process.”
Elizabeth furthered the same sentiment, adding that the “friendly banter” between the couples was a great thing to witness. “Just to see the silly side of them, it was good,” she said. “Sometimes everything can be so serious if you’re watching it, so it’s good to see them being silly.” We can’t wait to see new sides of our favorite 90 Day Fiancé couples.
Elizabeth and Andrei approached Love Games differently than some of the other couples
All the 90 Day Fiancé couples are different, and it’s no surprise that they all came to the Love Games competition differently. Where Elizabeth and Andrei shined, they revealed to The List, was their ability to stay cool under pressure. “Where other couples would get annoyed with each other, when someone wanted to share something and not necessarily the other person would want to, it definitely tests you,” Elizabeth said. And although Elizabeth and Andrei got into a couple little tiffs about what the other person shared while competing, they were able to maintain their “in it to win it” mentality. “It just keeps you on your toes,” Elizabeth said, and we for one can’t wait to see just how heated things get.
Elizabeth and Andrei did talk about the dynamic between all the couples, and shared that the “energy would be totally different” if they had been able to compete in person. Love Games was shot remotely, with all the couples competing from their homes due to the coronavirus pandemic. “I would say definitely it would have been better if we were in the same auditorium, if we were in the same place with the other couples,” Andrei shared. But given just how spicy Love Games looks with all the couples separated, it seems like viewers are in for a treat.
Love Games is set to stream on Discovery+ starting February 14.
