While Hilary Duff tends to stick to the same tried and true beauty formula of minimal makeup and beachy blonde (why fix what isn't broken?), over the past few months she's been making the most of being stuck in isolation by doing the most with her look.
For example: Earlier this spring she was one of the first celebs to go for a DIY “quarantint”—resulting in an extremely cool bright blue hair color. And then this week on Instagram stories, she shared a photo a glitter eye look she did that perfectly complimented her face mask and tie-dyed pink and blue sweatshirt.
In a since-deleted video on her story, Duff mentioned that she was inspired by her longtime makeup artist Kelsey Deenihan to try a holographic shimmer eye with the Lorac Lux Diamond Eye Glosses. Later that day she posted a selfie showing off the result: a super sparkly wash of sheer blue that would make Lizzie McGuire proud.
While she didn't share the exact technique she tried, it looks like she used the shade Skinny Dip from the Sunset trio all over her lid, and then concentrated the color at her lashline.
“Holographic blue shimmer eyes” may sound over the top, but when you see it in action, it's actually in line with Duff's easy-going beauty vibe. Since the eyeshadow she used is a liquid, it takes minimal effort to swipe it across your lids for an Insta-ready look. And by the looks of Duff's story, it stays on all day, as she shared a photo in bed later that night.

This isn't the first time Duff has opened up about her beauty routine. Back in September, she shared some of her more low-key favorite products with Glamour. In addition to professing her love for Kevyn Aucoin's Glass Glow Face Liquid Highlighter, Duff revealed that her best beauty tip is that she shaves her nose. “I’m lucky enough to work with so many amazing makeup artists that I’ve learned a lot of tips and tricks when I get to have a little more time,” she said. “I have this dirty little secret that I love to shave my nose. It takes me, like, two seconds. I love the way [my skin] looks with it way more than without it. So I try incorporate it when I can.”

She also participated in Vogue's Beauty Secrets series earlier this year, and shared her entire skin care and makeup routine from start to finish. While she does use Stila's Glitter & Glow liquid eyeshadow (sensing a theme here), it's in a much more muted rose shade. Duff also shared her love for Chanel's cream bronzer, Ole Henriksen's Dark Spot Toner, and Nurse Jamie's Uplift Tool. Shop some of her favorites below.
