Glitter boobs inventor tells how festival pop-up will earn her £50 million

“After creating new trends that are now part of festival season year on year, I wanted to expand on this momentum of the brand and what we do and carry it through to become even bigger and better – which is what we’ve done”

Jenna Meek

Jenna’s clothing range, based at her flagship store in London’s Carnaby Street, includes clothes and accessories encrusted with Shrine’s signature bling.

Meanwhile her new beauty collection, which features neon eyeliners, hair extensions and intense glitter eye gels, is set to be the hot look at festivals like Creamfields, Reading and Wilderness next month.

And all this hard work is paying off – with a huge turnover predicted for the business over the coming few years.

Jenna told the Daily Mail: “I am really excited to be expanding Shrine further into more categories in the next three years.

“Knowing we created the mad trends of the festivals, from the glitter booty to boobs to the crazy braids and glitter eyes – I can’t wait to see what more we can do with our new products in the future.”

Jenna leads a team of just eight, but is dealing with huge orders from giant retailers such as Superdrug, Pretty Little Thing, ASOS and Missguided.

She says:  “For me, taking it from a small festival brand to a global lifestyle brand, with an expected turnover of 50 million is so exciting and a place I could have only of dreamt about when I first started the business.”

Gypsy Shrine’s Charlotte Eastwood told the Daily Star how the glitter boobs trend was inspired.

She said: “One Halloween we thought it would be really fun to recreate the disco boobs and then the glitter boobs idea just came from there.

“We love messing our jewels with glitter so the idea just took off and we ran with it.”

The hashtag #glitterboobs on Instagram is now full of people stripping off and recreating the sparkly trend themselves.
