Angela Scanlon has broken her silence on her 'premature' Strictly exit

Angela Scanlon breaks her silence on her ‘premature’ Strictly Come Dancing exit as she admits she can’t stop crying: ‘Feels like it’s been cut a little short but maybe there’s a bigger plan’

Angela Scanlon has broken her silence on Instagram on Monday after being the ninth celebrity to be voted off Strictly Come Dancing.

The TV presenter, 39, said she believes her time on the BBC show with professional partner Carlos Gu has been ‘cut a little short’.

During Sunday’s dance off, Angela narrowly missed out on a place in the quarters after failing to win over the judges with her cha-cha-cha to Gloria Gaynor’s I Will Survive meaning actor Layton Williams and pro Nikita Kuzmin were saved instead.

Angela has now told her followers that she felt like her exit was ‘premature’ hinting that fans claiming the results are rigged is true.

Sharing a lengthy post, she said: ‘Over and out. What a wild ride it’s been, feels like it’s been cut a little short but maybe there’s a bigger plan.

‘We had a lot more to give’: The TV presenter, 39, said she believes her time on the BBC show with professional partner Carlos Gu has been ‘cut a little short’

‘When I signed up to do Strictly I hoped I’d leave the show with an arse like Kim Kardashian & a few killer moves for family weddings.

‘What I hadn’t anticipated (and maybe it’s still too early to really feel through the sobs) is how much growth there would really be (not just my glutes).

‘To get out there every week in front of millions with no control, as a recovering perfectionist, was hard.

‘To pick up every week and go again was hard. To receive feedback wasn’t always cute. To juggle and keep the show on the road while trying to nail a Paso Doble was hard.’

Angela continued: ‘But… to dance every week was easy. To feel his belief and faith. To laugh. To pick each other up. To share food & ideas & vulnerability.

‘To stand under the lights with this man’s arm around me, was easy.

‘It feels somewhat premature & we had a lot more to give but to have met a soul that knows mine deeply, a heart that is as open, is an absolutely unexpected gift. I feel like the luckiest @gkx_carlos you are my favourite x

‘I have so much more to say, and so many more people to thank (!) but right now I’m crying in an Epsom salt bath while eating a cinnamon swirl so you’ll have to wait for Part 2!’

Angela found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard during Saturday’s show and fans feared that she would be the next to leave the ballroom.

During the show, the remaining couples took to the Ballroom in the hope of impressing our Judges, Craig Revel Horwood, Motsi Mabuse, Anton Du Beke and Head Judge, Shirley Ballas and the voting public.

Angela faced Layton and his professional partner Nikita Kuzmin, who performed an American Smooth to Magic Moments by Perry Como, originally scoring 34 points.

After watching both routines, the judges delivered the verdicts, as Craig Revel Horwood chose to save Layton and Nikita.

Craig said: ‘Technically for me personally, the better dance of the night, and the dance I actually enjoyed the most, was Layton and Nikita.’

Motsi Mabuse also opted to save Layton and Nikita, telling the couples: ‘Well this was certainly a tough, tough dance off. I based my decision on musicality and balance and that is why I will be saving Nikita and Layton.’

Making it three out of three, Anton Du Beke also chose to save Layton and Nikita.

He said: ‘Well I thought that was quite a tense dance off, I don’t think either couple danced as well as they can.

‘It was the closest dance off we’ve had in the series so far. This is the only thing, I saw an error from one of the couples, so I’m going to vote to keep in to the quarter-finals, Layton and Nikita.’

With three votes to Layton and Nikita, it meant they had won the majority vote and would be staying in the competition regardless, however Head Judge Shirley Ballas said she would have decided to save Angela and Carlos.

Shirley said: ‘Well important for me always when it comes to Ballroom and Latin is the character of the dance, that it’s true to the dance, timing and quality and I would have voted for Angela and Carlos.’

One last dance: The star found herself at the bottom of the leaderboard during Saturday’s show and ended up in the dreaded dance off

When asked by Tess about her time on the show, Angela said: ‘It’s been honestly incredible, I’m gutted, really gutted that it’s finished now, but it has been the most wonderful experience.

‘I have made the best friend in this man [to Carlos]. We have had so much fun, he is such an incredible guy. He has supported me and picked me up and made me laugh so much. I don’t know what to say, it’s been magical honestly – all of those people up there! My husband at home, my two little girls and all my friends!’

Her dance partner Carlos said: ‘Her commitment and her strength every day, day by day – I’m a professional dancer and she works so hard, harder than me! Look at her now – I am so proud, her sense of humour and we had so much fun everyday – she cracks me up laughing!’

The remaining five couples will take to the dancefloor next when Strictly Come Dancing returns for a Musicals special on Saturday 2nd December at 19:25, with the results show on Sunday 3rd December at 19:20 on BBC One and BBC iPlayer.
