This Morning: Dermot and Alison send love to Holly
Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary paid tribute to This Morning colleague Holly Willoughby on Friday’s instalment of the ITV show.
“We have to start with the story about one of our own,” Dermot stated.
“Holly [Wiloughby] is on the front pages this morning after police arrested a 36-year-old man over an alleged kidnap plot.”
“Obviously, we are all shocked by the news and we want to send our love and biggest hugs to Holly and her family.”
“Absolutely,” Dermot agreed as Gyles Brandreth repeated: “Yes, a really big hug for Holly.”
He continued: “It’s a rough, tough world at times isn’t it – grim.”
Holly Willoughby pulled out of presenting This Morning yesterday with no explanation, leaving viewers questioning where she was.
It has since been reported that a man from Essex has been arrested and now charged after police found “sinister messages” threatening to kidnap and “seriously harm” the presenter.
It is currently unclear how officers were alerted to the alleged plot, but a source has claimed digital devices and a mobile phone were seized.
A source told The Sun: “Investigations are continuing but police are treating this as a credible conspiracy to kidnap Holly.
“There were apparently some sinister and threatening messages found on electronic devices threatening to seriously harm her.”
Earlier on Friday, Lorraine Kelly also acknowledged her ITV co-star.
Speaking on her show this morning, the presenter said the situation was “very, very upsetting” and sent love to her and her family.
Express.co.uk has contacted a representative for Holly and Essex Police for further comment.
