'What a narcissist' Megan Rapinoe slammed for ignoring young fan

Megan Rapinoe sparks fury for ignoring young fan as she signs his football in resurfaced footage (and even tennis bad boy Nick Kyrgios agree she’s ‘diabolically arrogant’!)

Megan Rapinoe has been slammed online after footage emerged of her refusing to interact with at a young fan as she signed a football.

Earlier this week, Twitter user Oli London posted a seven-second clip of the American football star, 38, attending the EPSY awards in Los Angeles in 2019.

During the course of the evening, Megan – who crashed out of the Women’s World Cup on Sunday when she missed a crucial penalty against Sweden – was approached by a young boy as she sat in the front row.

In the viral video, which has amassed over 2.7m views, the fan is seen handing Megan a football to sign.

As she autographed the ball, Megan failed to interact with the youngster at all – who stood nervously in front of her.

At one point, Megan – who was dressed in a black tuxedo jacket – turns to speak to another guest walking up the aisle.

She then hands the boy back his ball without looking in his direction or appearing to saying anything to him at all.

In the background of the video, another guest is seen looking horrified by Megan’s lack of interaction with the youngster – and holds his head in his hands.

That evening, Megan and her teammates received the Excellence in Sports Performance Yearly Award after winning the 2019 World Cup and also bagged the Best Team award too.

Oli captioned the clip: ‘Imagine being such an arrogant Narcissist that you don’t even look at a young fan and acknowledge them when signing a ball.

‘This is Megan Rapinoe in a nut shell…’

Since the clip was uploaded yesterday, Oli’s tweet has sparked fierce debate among users.

Resharing the video with his 8.5m followers, Piers Morgan – who previously blasted the ‘cocky’ US team – fumed: ‘Doesn’t even look at him. Diabolical arrogance.’

The video even brought Piers Morgan and Nick Kyrgios together after their public feud last year

Referencing their Twitter spat last year, Tennis star Nick Kyrgios then replied: ‘Hahahahaha one thing me and Piers agree on.’

Following Nick’s outburst at Wimbledon last summer, Piers labelled the Australian player a ‘monumental a**hole’ for hurling abuse at his own team as he grew frustrated by his errors.

Meanwhile, other viewers also weighed in on Megan’s apparent coldness towards her young fan.

One wrote: ‘That’s just so sad. That kid really looked up to her, to ask for an autograph.

Since the clip was uploaded yesterday, Oli’s tweet has sparked fierce debate among users – with some labelling the star a ‘narcissist’

‘She’s a classic narcissist. I feel bad for the kid.’

Another joked: ‘I’m surprised she didn’t charge him for her signature.’

‘Literally 10 seconds of her day,’ a third said. ‘All she had to do was look at him and smile.’

A fourth simply wrote: ‘Never meet your heroes guys.’

On Sunday, Megan sparked outrage among football fans when she was seen laughing to herself after missing crucial penalty during the US’ match against Sweden.

As Rapinoe jogged back to the halfway line where her team-mates were standing, she appeared to be smirking and laughing to herself.

Rapinoe was later seen crying alongside her devastated team-mates as the US – the competition’s defending champions – crashed out at the last-16 stage in Melbourne.

She was still laughing as she rejoined her team-mates at the halfway line during the shoot-out

Explaining her initial reaction afterwards, Rapinoe said: ‘That’s like a sick, sick joke. I’ve never hit it over, when I miss they are saved. That’s why I had that smile on my face.

‘I’m like, ‘You’ve got to be f***ing kidding me.’ I’m going to miss a penalty? I mean, honestly, I can’t remember the last time I missed.’

Indeed, it had been five years since Rapinoe last missed a penalty, in a NWSL match, but this one proved far more costly as she was denied the fairytale finish to her international career.

Earlier this month, Megyn Kelly claimed that Megan Rapinoe had ‘poisoned’ the US women’s national team – with the host saying she was rooting for the team of ‘morons’ to lose their next match.

Referencing the team’s reluctance to sing the national anthem, Megyn said: ‘Megan Rapinoe, she’s the leader of all this… She’s not a starter. So that’s why she’s not on camera when they’re doing the national anthem, but she’s behind a lot of this.

‘She’s poisoned the entire team against the country for which they play. I don’t know about you, but I’m not rooting for them. I’m not with them. I hope they lose…It’s shameful. These girls are shameful. They ought to be ashamed of themselves.’
