Man Utd transfer boost as Everton could be forced into SELLING Jordan Pickford to ease huge financial losses | The Sun

EVERTON could sell one of their big-hitters on the cheap this week to balance the books at Goodison Park.

The hard-up Toffees need to raise cash through sales before their end-of-year accounts close for 2022-23.

That could see Jordan Pickford, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Abdoulaye Doucoure and Amadou Onana become available for knockdown prices.

The Toffees are desperate to bring in money after losing a whopping £430MILLION over the past four years.

Everton are the subject of an independent commission set up by the Premier League over allegations they have breached Financial Fair Play rules.

Selling stars by June 30 and showing the income in their accounts would take huge financial pressure off. But doing so would also come at a price.

Everton, as revealed by SunSport, could be prepared to sell 29-year-old England No 1 Pickford.

And they already have Crystal Palace’s Sam Johnstone, 30, lined up, who has a £10m release clause in his contract.

They rate Pickford at £45m but with the days winding down until that accounts deadline they could be forced to sell for less.

And that would suit Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag, who could be on the hunt for a goalkeeper, with David de Gea set to become a free agent on that same day.

The Red Devils chief, who is still hoping to complete a £55m deal for Chelsea midfielder Mason Mount, has only around £100m to spend this summer unless he sells players himself.

Among the names in Ten Hag’s out-tray are Pickford’s Three Lions team-mate Harry Maguire, Fred and Scott McTominay.

The Dutchman’s No 1 priority this summer is a top striker with £100m Harry Kane his first choice — but Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is refusing to sell.

With that in mind he hoped he would not have to spend any large sum on a goalkeeper but De Gea’s refusal to accept a pay-cut has scuppered that plan.

But Everton’s need to raise revenue — any sales after June 30 would go on next year’s accounts — means he could tempt majority owner Farhad Moshiri to accept less.

Pickford is not the only Everton player who could go before Friday and at a lowered value.

Fulham boss Marco Silva wants to reunite with Doucoure, 30, who he worked with at Watford.

Fellow midfielder Onana, 21, also interests Ten Hag with Arsenal and Chelsea also tracking him.
