On Saturday, May 7, the Duffers revealed that the production on the upcoming season won’t get underway until the streaming giant offers a fair deal to writers. “Duffers here. Writing does not stop when filming begins. While we’re excited to start production with our amazing cast and crew, it is not possible during this strike,” the Duffers tweeted. “We hope a fair deal is reached soon so we can all get back to work. Until then – over and out. #wgastrong.”
“Stranger Things” isn’t the only Netflix show that puts its production on halt due to the writers strike, which has entered it second week. “Big Mouth” and “Cobra Kai” also face delays and productions pauses as writers are demanding a fair salary. Netflix’s movie “Blade” also shut down its production and “will restart…production once the strike is over.”
Several late-night TV shows, such as “The Tonight Show Starring Jimmy Fallon“, “Late Night With Seth Meyers“, “The Late Show With Stephen Colbert“, “Saturday Night Live” and “Jimmy Kimmel Live!” also went dark amid the strike. Jimmy Fallon and Seth Meyers additionally were said to have helped NBC pay their writers’ salary with their own money. The two hosts will pay for the employees’ salary for the third week. It’s also said that healthcare for the shows’ employees will be paid through September.
Meanwhile, HBO’s “Game of Thrones” spin-off “House of the Dragon will continue filming its sophomore season without its writers. Season 2 of Amazon’s “The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power” also remains unaffected.
