TOOTHPASTE is one of those everyday items we use, but never pay too much attention to. But if we told you there is a specific purpose for each stripe in a tube and they never mix together?
People across the globe are only just realising what it’s all about… And it all started with Aquafresh.
They were the first striped toothpaste to launch in the oral hygiene market when they came out with a blue and white version of the paste.
The blue colour is meant to fight off decay, while the other is to help freshen the breath.
The company then added a red stripe to the mix, which is to help keep gums healthy. And with the mix of them all came their promise for triple protection.
And what’s more is the colours in the tube never really mix together.

TikTokers have tried time and time again to mix the substances together, while some believe it’s a hoax, others swear that they never mix together.
And upon seeing the hype around this, Colgate decided to respond with the science behind it all.
“So it looks like you guys are really interested in how the stripes in our tubes stay intact,” one Colgate worker said.
His colleague then asked: “Is it magic?” to which he responded: ‘No”.

They also said it wasn’t due to a special nozzle in the cap, a portal or any other magical component that does it.
“It’s actually two things,” one of them said. “One, the two colours resist mixing due to their viscosity.
“Two, the design of the tube doesn’t allow for proper mixing. You’d have to cut open the top and mix all the way to the bottom to do it.
“That’s that!”
People were left in shock over it, but also found the humour in how Colgate explained it.
“WE KNOW ITS A PORTAL,” one person joked.
Another said: “ THIS! I finally got my answer. Why don’t all companies respond like this?” [sic]
A third person explained how he and his sister cut the top and mixed the entire contents of the toothpaste to try it and it came out mixed – debunking what most people think.
While a fourth added: “THEY CUT IT OPEN AND MIXED IT ALL THE WAY UP INTO A GRAY MIXTURE STILL CAME OUT STRIPED!!!” [sic]
