Wayne Mardle recovering from op as darts fans wonder where Sky Sports pundit is

Wayne Mardle explained he's recovering from an operation as Sky Sports viewers asked about his absence.

The pundit didn't carry out his usual duties for night four of the Premier League in Dublin last Thursday (February 23), which was won by world champion Michael Smith. And he was missing for the darts action once again this evening in Exeter.

Many fans expressed their concern as Mardle was still active on Twitter. One questioned: "How come you’ve not been there the last two weeks? Not the same without you on comms."

"You on tonight," asked a second, while a third wrote: "Why hasn’t Wayne Mardle been there last two weeks?"

But Mardle moved to quickly alleviate their fears, tweeting: "To all those asking, I’ll be back in a few weeks. Just recovering from an operation. Nothing to worry about thank god."

Well wishes flooded in from his relieved followers. One said: "Get well soon… comms is not the same without you."

Another commented: "Ah we were just discussing where you’d gone. Wishing you a speedy recovery and look forward to your return." And one echoed: "Wondered where you were! Speedy recovery Wayne, the darts needs you back! Take care."

Mardle didn't elaborate on what the operation was, but it wouldn't be a surprise if it had something to do with his vocal cords after his now-iconic "I can't spake" reaction to Smith's epic nine darter at Ally Pally in January.
