That's why Sky rolled out the Sky Go app: it lets users access content from a phone or tablet while they're on the move.

Unfortunately, this comes with limits: since 2021, Sky Go has been 'geo-blocked', meaning it won't let you stream anything if you're accessing it from a non-UK location.

This is a problem that affects many UK TV platforms, including BBC iPlayer and ITVX – but the good news is there's a workaround.

You'll need to use install a VPN in order to access Sky Go from outside the UK – just follow the steps below.

How to watch Sky Go abroad with a VPN

VPNs – or 'virtual private networks' – offer uses extra levels of security while they're browsing online by sending their internet activity through servers located all over the world.

This means you can use a VPN to 'suggest' you're accessing any geo-restricted platform from its home country.

  1. If you haven't got it installed already, download the Sky Go app to your streaming device.
  2. Download a VPN such as ExpressVPN or NordVPN to the same device.
  3. Load up the VPN, and select a UK-based server.
  4. Open the Sky Go, and you should be able to successfully access all content.
