The Independent Press Standards Organisation (IPSO) have launched an investigation into Jeremy Clarkson's article about Meghan Markle.

Back in December 2022, the former Top Gear host published a scathing article about the Duchess of Sussex in The Sun following her six-part documentary series with her husband Prince Harry.

In his column, the car fanatic he shared his dream of watching the mum-of-two "parade naked through the streets" as passers-by "throw lumps of excrement at her."

He went on to compare the actress to serial killer Rose West as he admitted "I hate her on a cellular level."

Since then, the independent media regulator has been flooded with more than 25,100 complaints about the vile article which triggered the investigation.

His vile remarks soon sparked backlash online, with Clarkson's daughter Emily even speaking out against him.

The column became the most complained about ever and was removed from The Sun's website at his request.

Jeremy later apologised for the cruel story and addressed some of the backlash towards the imagery used in his piece, which he explained was a reference to a scene in the television series Game of Thrones.

In a later statement, the presenter revealed he had emailed the couple to apologise over his controversial article during the festive holiday.

However, The Duke and Duchess of Sussex dismissed the apology saying it was part of "a series of articles shared in hate".

They also emphasised that Clarkson "wrote solely to Prince Harry" with his apology email.

It comes after it was reported that Amazon Prime Video has likely cut ties with the TV host following the backlash from his controversial column.

The streaming service has worked with the presenter since 2015, producing hit shows such as The Grand Tour and Clarkson's Farm.

However, as first reported by Variety, it is understood Amazon could stop working with the star beyond seasons of the shows which have already been commissioned.
