THE WWE have been hit with chaos behind the scenes with Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson's appearance in doubt.
Rumours surfaced last year that Hollywood star and WWE legend The Rock was being eyed for a return to star at WrestleMania 39.
The proposal would have seen him come back at Royal Rumble to set up a title match against champion Roman Reigns.
But pro wrestling insider Dave Meltzer revealed a scheduling conflict looks to be ruling The Rock out.
Meltzer said on on Wrestling Observer Radio: "Well, anything is possible, and [WWE] certainly could be—he could be keeping everything a secret from all but one or two people.
"There is that possibility, but the word is that he does not have the time to get in shape—you know, we've talked about it from day one.

"He's not going to do it, in his mind, if he's going to put on a bad performance."
The Rock, 50, and Reigns, 37, have long been linked with a dream headliner due to their Samoan heritage.
But the actor has not had a full match since 2013, losing in a rematch to John Cena.
And with just three months approaching till the Grandest Stage of Them All, a WrestleMania 39 return is becoming increasingly unlikely.

Meltzer said. "All along, it was always 'if he had the time to do it, he will do it.'
"When I say 'time to do it,' it doesn't mean just a schedule break, but the time to get in ring shape to do a legitimate WrestleMania main event.
"We're talking 20 minutes plus for a guy who has not done this. He's not done a real match since; what was it, 2011, 2012?
"Put it this way: most are of the opinion it's not happening."
