Piers Morgan, 57, has revitalised his dislike for Meghan Markle and Prince Harry once again as he blasted the couples’ newly announced Netflix documentary, accusing them of “mind-blowing hypocrisy”.
The teaser trailer for Prince Harry and Meghan’s new Netflix series dropped earlier today, showing fans what they can expect from the documentary.
Piers claimed he “retched” when he first saw the trailer, slamming it as “ghastly”, “repugnant” and “dripping in sanctimony”.
The reporter argued that the documentary is highly hypocritical considering their consistent requests for privacy.
He also claimed that since the couple left their royal duties they have been simultaneously complaining about their treatment in the Royal Family and “exploiting their titles”.
Piers also fumed over one specific line in the trailer, where Meghan says: “When the stakes are this high, doesn’t it make sense to hear our story from us?”
He wrote in The Sun: “Barely a b****y week goes by without hearing their story in interviews with Oprah, on open-top bus trips with James Corden, in ‘not many people have asked if I’m OK’ confessionals to TV journalists, or in unctuously self-aggrandising podcasts.”
He claimed that the series’ true motive is “obvious”, to paint the couple as “poor little victims horribly abused by the beastly Royals”.
Piers added: “God knows what the Royal Family must have made of it given they are the main targets for this latest onslaught from their renegade Californian offshoot.”
The reporter also slammed Prince Harry’s quote in the trailer, where the young Prince says he had to do what he needed to protect his family.
Piers claimed all Harry has done since departing from his royal duties was “publicly incinerate his wider family”.
He added: “The couple’s hypocrisy is truly mind-blowing.”
It wasn’t only the upcoming docuseries or the trailer which grinded Piers’ gears, but the timing of its release.
William and Kate are currently in America for their first big trip since becoming the Prince and Princess of Wales as they attend the Earthshot Awards Prize ceremony.
Piers claimed this timing was a “pre-meditated act of cynical public relations war designed to wreck the visit.”
The broadcaster noted that he expected this type of behaviour from Meghan, but declared that Harry’s role in this sabotage was “an unforgivable act of treachery”.
He concluded his column by calling for King Charles to strip Harry and Meghan of all remaining titles and duties and release any remaining connections they have to the family “before they destroy it”.
The series, titled Harry & Meghan, will give viewers a behind-the-scenes insight into the couple’s split from the royal family.
It is reported that the feature will include never-before-seen pictures of the royal family and candid interviews.
As soon as the trailer had been released Piers fled to Twitter to slam it as “vomit-inducing”.
Harry & Meghan is set to be released on Netflix on December 8.
