Callum Hudson-Odoi transfer news: Newcastle odds SLASHED as winger plots Chelsea exit, Dortmund favourites | The Sun

DORTMUND are at the current frontrunners in the race to sign Chelsea outcast Callum Hudson-Odoi.

But Newcastle have had their odds slashed from 10/1 to 11/4 to sign the young English winger.

Thomas Tuchel hopes Hudson-Odoi can live up to his huge potential at just 21 years of age.

However, he suggested he wouldn't stand in the youngster's way should a move materialise.

Dortmund have a tremendous track record for giving young English stars game time and allowing them to develop.

Jude Bellingham followed in Jadon Sancho's footsteps by making the switch across to the Bundesliga and has flourished as a result.

Hudson-Odoi joined the Chelsea academy as a six-year-old and progressed through the age groups before being handed his first-team debut by Antonio Conte at the age of 17.

Hudson-Odoi was part of the England U17 squad that won the World Cup in India and 2017, and in 2019 became the youngest debutant to start a competitive match for England.

The winger flourished under Maurizio Sarri and Frank Lampard over the following seasons but has struggled for game time since Thomas Tuchel took charge of Chelsea at the start of 2021.

The 21-year-old has made 126 appearances for Chelsea but started just 11 league games last season and couldn't get back in the team after recovering from an injury that kept him out for two months at the start of the year.

He wasn't in the squad for the opening game at Everton before being an unused sub in the tasty draw at home to Spurs.

Leicester were linked with a move for him earlier in the summer though have endured a quiet time in the window.

Instead, it's Newcastle who have emerged as the dangers to Dortmund and have seen their price smashed in from 10/1 to 11/4.

They are still in the market for new signings despite spending over £60million so far as the European places become a real target.

He would offer something different to Allan Saint-Maximin and Miguel Almiron, who have started the season well.

The Foxes have now drifted out to 6/1, alongside Everton.

Hudson-Odoi's former Chelsea manager Lampard, is rumoured to be interested in re-uniting with him at Goodison Park.

The Toffees sold Richarlison to Tottenham and are a but light in the forward areas at present.

Lampard and Hudson-Odoi enjoyed a good relationship at Stamford Bridge and that could prove pivotal as the transfer window clock ticks down.

Premier League pair Crystal Palace and Southampton are 12/1 and 16/1, respectively.

While Juventus are the other side quoted with a price, with Sky Bet going 25/1 that he switches to Serie A.
