Noel Gallagher remarks the Royal Family's appeal is 'dwindling'

‘The monarchy as a thing is farcical’ Noel Gallagher claims the Royal Family’s appeal is ‘dwindling’ and people only cared about the Jubilee because they got the day off work

Noel Gallagher has revealed he thinks the Royal Family’s appeal is ‘dwindling’.

Sharing he thoughts about the Queen and her family, the Oasis rocker, 55, shared that ‘the monarchy as a thing is a bit farcical’, before remarking that people only cared about the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee because they got extra time off work.

However, Noel was quick to add to The Mirror that it would be a sad day when the Queen, 96, dies and appreciates that the Monarch and her family were born into the institution.

Having his say: Noel Gallagher has revealed he thinks the Royal Family’s appeal is ‘dwindling’

Giving his opinion about the recent extra bank holidays for the Jubilee celebrations that commemorated Her Majesty’s incredible 70 years on the throne, Noel said that the music business should ‘not stop for the monarchy’.

He added: ‘Some of the people who work for me, I was like, “See you tomorrow”. They went, “Oh, we’re off tomorrow. We’ve got the day off for the jubilee”. I was like, “f***ing royalists in the music business? I’m not having the day off, you’re not having the day off”. Anyway they all had the day off.’

After remarking that people cared more for the Silver Jubilee in 1977, he went on: ‘Now, it’s appeal is dwindling, like religion, There are other things for people to be interested in.’

Noel stated that he has a security guard who is a ‘royalist’, but they are ‘dwarfed’ by those who think ‘whatever’ and are only fussed about having the ‘day off’.

He remarked: ‘The monarchy as a thing is a bit farcical – and if anybody thinks we are one’s subjects then they are very much mistaken.’

Despite his comments, Noel admitted that it would be a ‘big deal’ when the Queen eventually passes away as he’s known no other monarch than her in his lifetime.

He also insisted that he doesn’t ‘hate’ the Royal Family and is not an ‘anti- royal’ as he realised that the Queen, Prince Charles and his sons Prince Harry and Prince William were ‘born into it’.

This isn’t the only time the Don’t Look Back In Anger singer has lashed out at members of the Royal Family.

In June 2021, he branded Prince Harry a ‘f*****g woke snowflake’ for publicly criticising the Royal Family.

The musician, who has a notoriously sour relationship with his own brother Liam, 49, said he sympathises with Prince William for having a brother who is ‘shooting his f*****g mouth off’.

Noel didn’t hold back in his criticism of the Duke of Sussex, telling The Sun: ‘Prince William. I feel that f*****g lad’s pain.

‘He’s got a f*****g younger brother shooting his f*****g mouth off with s*** that is just so unnecessary. I’d like to think I was always the William.’

The rocker also criticised Harry for ‘dissing your family’ – referring to Harry and Meghan’s recent Oprah special and Harry’s mental health documentary series in which he has lambasted the Royal Family – and told him to ‘shut up’.
