Ben Shephard threatens to FINE Tipping Point contestant £1k after 'disgraceful' answer

BEN Shephard threatened to fine a contestant on Tipping Point £1,000 after her "disgraceful" answer on the show.

Tuesday afternoon's instalment of the ITV quiz show saw Heather, Abs and Tina all competing to win the £10,000 cash jackpot by answering a series of questions.

Heather and Abs got off to a slow start, failing to secure any money by the end of the first round.

In contrast, Tina managed to win £1700 in one drop as 17 counters tumbled from the machine.

She added a further £300 to take her total up to £2000 in the first 15 minutes.

In the second round, Heather triumphed over Abs, answering five questions correctly compared to his two, sending him home.

Heather and Tina then fought for a place in the final – but Ben was left shocked by one of Tina's answers.

Ben had asked: "How many of the teams who played in the 2020/2021 English Premier League season have a name that begins with the letter 'W'?"

Tina then answered: "I'm either going to know or I'm not so I'm going to go for two."

Revealing it to be the wrong answer, Ben said: "It's not two and you forgot the most important one Tina, it's West Ham.

"My team Tina, disgraceful, so we are actually going to fine you £1000, that's going to Heather."

But luckily for Tina, the Hammers fan began to laugh and it became clear that he wasn't actually going to reduce her prize pot by £1000.

This meant that Tina, despite answering far fewer questions correctly than Heather, made it through to the final.

And luck was on Tina's side as the star counter dropped onto the bottom shelf after only two counters.

It took a further six for it to tumble into her prize fund meaning Tina walked away with the jackpot of £10,000.

Tipping Point airs weekdays at 4pm on ITV.
