"This is actually a really simple DIY, I just used base boards for this," she shared.

Keep it minimal

"I have a tendency to over decorate," she admitted.

But keeping everything to a minimum will make every piece in your home feel that bit more special.

She added: "Having lots of white space in your room for the eyes to rest is really gonna give your room an elegant feeling."

She suggests pulling back on the wall art and home accessorise for a more curated look.

If you want the look on a budget, the savvy saver said to DIY your own pillow covers with velvet or satin.

Of course, you cam rewire to create things like wall sconces, but it can end up costing a lot.

Instead, try battery operated stick on lights, you can put them under your kitchen cupboards and under shelves to create a posh look for less.

Real flowers

"I love real and faux flowers, an greenery of any kind," Christina shared.

"But what's going to instantly take your room up a notch is using real flowers.

"This can get expensive, but you can just use clippings from your yard.

"Or grab some flowers from the grocery store and arrange them in a way that looks a little more expensive."

Change your curtains

It might only seem like a small detail, the the interiors expert is adamant that it can make a huge difference.

"Floor to ceiling drapery always looks really good and always makes your ceilings look higher and your room look bigger," she revealed.

Paint wisely

While bright and bold colours can look great, there's a higher risk that you wont like them as much in a few years, or even months.

Not only that but potential buys might be put off by garishly bright walls.

Christina admits that she has no regrets in painting large portions of her house in the same neutral shade since it's so timeless.
