RIO FERDINAND believes there are five teams more likely to win the Champions League than Manchester United.
United were unconvincing in the 1-1 draw with Atletico Madrid on Wednesday with the Spanish side dominating.
It was a performance evidence of Ferdinand's claim that United are often guilty of taking one step forward and two steps back.
Asked if he thinks United have a chance of winning the Champions League, Ferdinand said on BT Sport: "No I don’t, if I am being honest.
"They are nowhere near it in the league, yes it is a knockout competition, but I see three or four maybe five teams that are ahead of Man United to win this, at least.
"You need a level of consistency to perform, home and away, to get the job done.
"There have been occasions where we have seen something but they have taken two steps back.
"You need 11, 13, 14 players in every game to perform and Man United have been guilty of not doing that enough."

It is a tall order for the Red Devils to win Europe's premier competition since they have not won a trophy since 2017.
And prior to this season they had not reach the Champions League knock-out stage since 2018-19, when they were defeated in the quarter-finals by Barcelona.
Ralf Rangnick is focused on finishing in the top four in order to qualify for the Champions League next season – an admission that even he thinks success in the competition is unlikely.
