AN expert has warned of an unusual danger – flying wheelie bins – as 50mph winds are set to batter the UK.
Waste company boss Mark Hall claims a full, flying bin could KILL in extreme weather.
Mr Hall, of Divert.co.uk, told The Daily Star: "We’ve all seen videos of bins being blown down the street during storms.
"But what many people forget is that they’re heavy and can pack a real punch if they hit anything.
"The average empty domestic wheelie bin starts at around 10kg and goes up to 50kg for the commercial ones.
"Despite their weight, in gale-force winds gusting up to 50mph those harmless bins become mini missiles."
He added that not only can the bins cause "thousands of pounds" worth of damage, but there is also a "huge danger to life risk".
Brits have been told to brace for nightmare weather over the next few days, with strong gales, snow and freezing rain.
Northern England and Scotland will bear the brunt of the storm, with a smattering of hill snow over the weekend.
Temperatures will hover around 6C or 7C for most, but 50mph gusts will make it feel markedly colder.
The mercury is set to plunge today, dipping close to freezing in eastern and south-eastern England.
Rain will also bucket down for many, making for pretty miserable conditions.

More than four inches is expected in some spots, sparking a yellow weather warning for rain for much of Wales until 6pm.
And the cold, wet snap means truly wintry weather come Monday – just in time for the most romantic day of the year.
Mr Hall warned wheelie bin owners to ensure they are secure before the storm hits.
He said: "Insurance companies –always looking to protect their bottom line – might not pay out if you have not made a reasonable attempt to secure your bins.
"The nightmare scenario is your bin pummelling your neighbour’s brand new Tesla."
