Monday racing tips: Andy Ayres picks out his best bet for today's racing while updating us on all the latest gossip from the tracks

YOU JUST cannot buy experience.

Frankie Dettori isn’t far off needing a Stannah Stairlift to perform a flying dismount, but he’s deadlier than a cobra when there’s a big pot on the line.

Dettori used more brain than brawn to complete a fantastic double in the Breeders’ Cup on Saturday

night, outfoxing his Yankee rivals by spinning wide off the bend and finding the only decent strip of

ground in Kentucky.

He’s the Benjamin Button of racing and there isn’t a trainer or owner in the land who wouldn’t want him on their side when the heat is on.

Gary Moore has done more laps of the track than the hare at Romford but is breaking new ground with Traffic Fluide, who stamped himself a proper Grand National contender when winning at Ascot on Saturday.

Gazza has never had a sniff of winning the big one at Aintree but reckons his horse is made for the job.

Judged by the way he dug deep to win this £100,000 pot, the blonde bomber may be spot on in his assessment.

Gary is just about the most popular man in racing – he’s the sort of fella who’s got time for everyone on the track– and there wouldn’t be a dry eye in the house if he managed to write himself into the history books next spring.

Best bet horse at Ascot was Nicky Henderson’s novice chaser Wenyerreadyfreddie (5-2 to 13-8). He looked a million dollars, jumped like a stag and was crossing the line while the others were still exiting Swinley Bottom.

This was an ordinary race but the big chestnut has more bounce than Zebedee and is one to follow as he climbs the ladder.

We’ll be seeing plenty of Dan Skelton’s New Quay (9-2 to 11-4), who outclassed his rivals in the paddock and on the track to land some lumpy bets in a novice handicap hurdle on this card.

Red-hot Skelton said he might run the horse under a penalty at Newbury on Thursday and he’s certain to go close if given the green light.

Sadly the Skelton team suffered a hammer blow when Shantou Rock made a fatal mistake in the 2m handicap chase here. He was a heart-on-the-sleeve front-runner and his loss underlines what a tough old game this can be.

Ralph Beckett has more top class fillies on his hands than Hugh Hefner and produced another potential star when Feliciana De Vega (4-1 to 10-11) landed a proper touch at Newmarket on Saturday. She’s built like a bull and a Classic trial beckons next spring.

Monday Magic

WATHEERAH (4.30 Kempton) shaped with bags of promise when green on her debut at Newmarket and should be suited by this surface.

CROWNED EAGLE fell short when tried at that level last term, but has found his niche now and can win the Listed Floodlit Stakes (6.00) at Kempton tonight. However, best bet on a decent card could be

WATHEERAH (4.30) in the 7f maiden.

Owen Burrow’s filly is bred for this surface and ran a blinder when runner-up at Newmarket on her debut.

Jason Watson has been booked to do the steering this time and she must go close.
