Fans are still reeling from the brutal ending of No Time To Die. Daniel Craig certainly brought his journey as 007 to an emotional end, but James Bond must live on. For now, we aren’t exactly sure who will be taking over as the spy, but Tom Hardy has been top of the leaderboards for months.
Leading bookmakers Ladbrokes have given Hardy an incredible 4/1 on becoming Bond in the near future.
While he is massively popular in the Bond odds, he has confessed he will not be commenting on the casting just yet. He said last year: “If I mention it, it’s gone.
“You know, there’s a saying amongst us in the fraternity of acting, and in the fellowship of my peer group, that if you talk about it you’re automatically out of the race. So I can’t possibly comment on that one!”
He may not be guaranteed the spot, however, as Superman actor Cavill has become a firm favourite in the bettings.
Cavill currently has an impressive 6/1 from Ladbrokes, placing him well ahead of many other Hollywood stars. And The Witcher star’s latest comments on joining the 007 franchise were actually quite surprising. When asked about joining the series Cavill said: “Time will tell. You don’t know which direction they want to take Bond in and so I like to say that everything’s always on the table.” (Via The Sunday Times) Despite how popular the British star is, however, he still has to beat a number of fellow thespians to the punch, including one from Bridgerton.

Regé-Jean Page is currently at the top of the odds alongside Hardy with 4/1.
He and Hardy have been neck-and-neck for some time now, with no indication that anything will change – but a star from Crazy Rich Asians may change it all.
Fellow British actor Henry Golding has recently had his odds slashed from 25/1 to 18/1.
With the charm and sophistication needed from Bond, he no doubt has what it takes to be the next international man of mystery.
Ladbrokes’ Alex Apati said: “Regé-Jean Page has been there or thereabouts at the head of the James Bond betting for the best part of 12 months now, although there are plenty of contenders hot on his heels, with Henry Golding being the latest name to see his odds slashed.”
Golding would be an amazing actor to take on 007, but he has recently explained how he doesn’t want his race to be a factor in the Bond casting.
He recently told Radio Times: “[Diversity] shouldn’t be a factor at all. I think Bond represents something that we’ve all sort of grown up with, and that’s a man of substance. A man who has stoic properties and is a protector, has a sensitive side.”
He added: “He’s such an iconic character, so I wouldn’t say that there should be any pressure. But I think they will choose the right person for the role. So be it Black, Asian, Latino, mixed… anything, as long as they have the attributes that they can bring to the screen. I think that is what the fans really want.”
The future of the James Bond franchise is, for now, still up in the air, but one of the Bond bosses has spoken out about one key detail that will not change for 007.
Barbara Broccoli, one of the executive producers of the series, recently confirmed the next Bond will remain male.
She told Variety: “James Bond can be of any colour, but he is male. I believe we should be creating new characters for women – strong female characters. I’m not particularly interested in taking a male character and having a woman play it. I think women are far more interesting than that.”
