‘It was ruining my mind’: Fearne Cotton explains she had to ‘walk away’ from Radio 1 in 2015 for the sake of her mental health
Fearne Cotton has revealed that she made the decision to leave Radio 1 in 2015 for the sake of her mental health.
Speaking in an interview with Red magazine, the star, 39, explained: ‘I had to walk away because it was literally ruining my mind.’
Fearne also touched upon the perception that ‘people on TV are perfect people with perfect lives’, calling the notion ‘b******s’.

The mother-of-two also candidly discussed her marriage to musician Jesse Wood, who she wed in 2014, saying that they are ‘more in love than ever’.
She gushed: ‘We’ve been together for more than 10 years now and we’re probably more in love than we’ve ever been. We’re in a good place – an ever-undulating but good place.’
Elsewhere in the interview, the former Celebrity Juice panellist revealed that her partying days are firmly in the past and that she is ‘really happy being in bed by 10pm and reading a nice book’.

‘I don’t have a vibrant social life nowadays, and that’s absolutely fine. My friendship circle is minuscule,’ the blonde beauty explained.
‘I like to see people in the day for a walk or for coffee. I don’t like going out at night. I don’t like dinner parties. I don’t crave going out and being a wild party animal any more.’
In 2018, Fearne launched her podcast Happy Place, in which she asks famous guests to tell her what happiness means to them.

Fearne often discusses her own mental health in the series, and told the magazine that she strives to ‘create something that breeds connection and offers people solace if they’re feeling alone’.

She explained: ‘I did years of work that was enjoyable, but didn’t necessarily always have a point to it, and I think you get to an age or maybe you go through certain experiences in life where you think, ”There has to be more meaning to all of this”.’
The veteran presenter continued: ‘You can climb the ladder to get to the best radio show or the TV show with the biggest audience, but then what? What’s the goal?’
She concluded: ‘That’s why I’m probably more driven now than I ever have been, because I have to use what I’ve built up for a purpose.’
It comes after Fearne embraced festival season on Sunday as she cut a chic figure when supporting her husband Jesse, 44, at Bestival.
Later in the day, Jesse, who is a member of rock band Reef and son of Rolling Stones star Ronnie Wood, took to the stage and Fearne revealed in a series of sweet social media snaps that she had brought their children, Rex, 8 and Honey, 5, along to watch their dad rock out.
