The Masters tee times: Full schedule for Day 3

Jordan Spieth is just two shots behind Justin Rose

The third round of The Masters gets underway on Saturday afternoon at Augusta, with Justin Rose boasting a slender one-shot lead over a bunched chasing pack.

Rose began Friday’s second round with a four-shot lead – the second-largest first round lead in the tournament’s history – but was forced to repeatedly dig deep as his swing faltered on the front nine. At one stage, the Englishman had given up three shots but a flourish of late birdies saw him retain the outright lead with an even par 72.

One shot behind him are debutant Will Zalatoris and Brian Harman, although much of the attention will be paid to Jordan Spieth. The 2015 champion, who arrived in tremendous form after his cathartic victory at last week’s Texas Valero Open, is five-under-par for the tournament after an impressive 68. He should have been joined at that mark by close friend Justin Thomas, however, the Players Champion’s reckless three-putt on the 18th green saw him slip one further back.

Among the slightly earlier starters are Bryson DeChambeau, who recovered brilliantly from an opening 76 with a 67 yesterday to leave himself with a faint hope of contention, and Scotland’s Robert MacIntyre, who has continued to impress on his Augusta debut.

What is already guaranteed is that there will be a new winner come the late hours of Sunday evening, with defending champion Dustin Johnson missing the cut, as did Rory McIlroy, Brooks Koepka and Lee Westwood.
