Ryan Seacrest says the Kardashian–Jenners want to ‘evolve’ and do things ‘differently’ as they move on from KUWTK to their new Hulu content deal
His decision to film a Kardashian–Jenner family get-together helped launch the hugely influential reality series Keeping Up With The Kardashians.
And now Ryan Seacrest has shared an update on the reality stars as wrap up KUWTK and move on to their new deal for exclusive content with Hulu.
The 46-year-old TV host and producer told People that fans of the series could expect the Kardashian–Jenners to ‘evolve’ in their new ventures, rather than just creating a sequel to their long-running series.
New direction: Ryan Seacrest, 46, said the Kardashian–Jenners would likely ‘evolve’ with their upcoming Hulu content after ending Keeping Up With The Kardashians, according to People; seen in January 2020
According to Seacrest, Kris Jenner and her children may have more freedoms now that they don’t have to cater as much to fans of KUWTK.
‘I think they have a lot of ideas and [will do] a lot of things that they may have not had a chance to do with Keeping Up With The Kardashians, because it was such a strong franchise and people wanted what they saw from the family. And that’s what they got for 20 seasons,’ he said.
‘So I have a feeling they have a stack of ideas,’ he continued.
‘My guess would be they want to evolve a little bit from the show that everybody has seen and do something differently. I’m sure it will definitely pique people’s interest, but I think it remains to be seen what exactly they will do.’

Although the KUWTK creator sounded excited about the family’s new direction, he was cut out of their future exploits after they left E! behind.
He previously served as an executive producer on the series, along with Kris and her three daughters with Robert Kardashian, but Seacrest appears to have been left out of the new Hulu deal.
Back in September, Kim Kardashian and the rest of the family announced that KUWTK would be ending in 2021 after airing its 20th season.
‘After what will be 14 years, 20 seasons, hundreds of episodes and numerous spin-off shows, we are beyond grateful to all of you who’ve watched us for all of these years — through the good times, the bad times, the happiness, the tears, and the many relationships and children,’ their statement read. ‘We’ll forever cherish the wonderful memories and countless people we’ve met along the way.’
Spark of genius: Seacrest created and executive produced KUWTK after Kris Jenner suggested making a show about her family in 2006; seen in 2019
Jenner originally brought the idea for a reality series about her family to Seacrest in 2006.
Inspired by the success of The Osbournes and The Simple Life, he brought in a camera crew to document an evening with the blended family, and the tapes inspired E! to greenlight the series.
Adding to their fame and notoriety was Kim’s 2002 sex tape with her then-boyfriend Ray J, which leaked in early 2007.
In December, the Kardashians announced that they had signed a deal to create exclusive content for the Disney-owned streaming service Hulu, with the first material expected to roll out in late 2021.
Moving fast: The family announced the series was ending in September, and they announced a new Hulu deal in December. Kim marked the last day of shooting on January 8
On January 8, Kim revealed on Instagram that the family had wrapped the final day of shooting for KUWTK.
Days earlier, Page Six reported that the Skims founder was divorcing her husband Kanye West and had hired the divorce attorney Laura Wasser, who was the inspiration for Laura Dern’s character in the 2019 dramedy Marriage Story.
Sources close to the reality star said that West’s ongoing mental health issues and his failed presidential bid had doomed the marriage, while he was reportedly fed up with her family and their reality series.
Kim and Kanye first began dating in 2012 and married in 2014.
They share four young children: daughters North, seven, and Chicago, three, and sons Saint, five, and Psalm, one.
It’s over: Earlier in January, Page Six reported that Kim and her Kanye West were divorcing. His mental illness reportedly drove them apart, while he grew frustrated with her family’s show
