Hair loss is a natural part of the ageing process, and most of the time, it’s nothing to worry about. We can even lose up to 100 hairs on our bodies every day, without even noticing said health experts. But you could prolong the life of your locks by applying aloe vera, it’s been revealed.

Aloe vera contains a specific proteolytic enzyme to stimulate hair follicles and repair damaged cells in your scalp. Which in turn, can lead to hair growth.

Aloe Vera’s anti-inflammatory component, choline salicylate, can be used to treat conditions like androgenetic alopecia.

And since aloe vera contains nutrients like polysaccharides and glycoproteins, which keeps a person’s hair healthy and moisturised, it can prevent hair loss from occurring in the first place.

In a study with Taylor Francis Online, the benefits of aloe vera gel for hair loss was analysed.

The study noted: “Various aloe vera extracts are widely used in a variety of over-the-counter skin products but only a few studies have been conducted to provide support for the use of aloe vera.

“One of the most popular ingredient of aloe vera is in the treatment of inflammatory skin conditions.”

The study concluded that aloe vera helped resolve the scalp inflammation that dandruff causes, and the fatty acids found in the aloe plant have anti-inflammatory properties helping to calm an irritated skin.

“More than 75 potentially active constituents have been identified in the plant including vitamins, minerals, saccharides, amino acids, anthraquinones, enzymes, lignin, saponins, and salicylic acids.”

Medicine Net said: “Aloe vera contains vitamins A, C, and E.

“All three of these vitamins contribute to cell turnover, promoting healthy cell growth and shiny hair.

“Vitamin B12 and folic acid are also contained in aloe vera gel.

“Both of these components can keep your hair from falling out.
