A conspiracy theorist is convinced that a UFO has been snapped above a hurricane from an astronaut onboard the International Space Station (ISS).
NASA astronaut Chris Cassidy took the jaw-dropping photo of Hurricane Laura back in August, with the picture being liked more than 900,000 after being shared to the space agency’s Instagram page.
But it has since resurfaced after an alien enthusiast noticed a strange object in the distance.
Scott C Waring, who has gained a reputation for outlandish claims such as badgers living on Mars, took to his YouTube channel yesterday to point out the unusual sight.
Zooming in on a grey circular shape, he says: “It’s kind of crazy. It could be a UFO, it could be a reflection, it could be a meteor but whatever it is could be mysterious.
“And it’s over a typhoon – could it be causing it?”
Conspiracy theorists have long since claimed there are an apparent rise in UFO sightings during, before, or after huge natural disasters and weather phenomenons.
One particularly outrageous belief is that the unidentified objects can cause such events.
Scott also noted how there appeared to be another, fainter, object directly above the circle.
Pointing to the secondary shape, he explained: “Up here there seems to be an after-effect – like it was shooting down and partially got caught in the photo but stopped here.
“Moving like a meteor, moving like a UFO, moving like an object in space that’s not supposed to be there in this photo.”
While the “object” could very simply be a reflection of the camera or window on the ISS, Scott maintained his beliefs by enhancing the photo.
By sharpening it, he claimed the bottom of the shape had a copper or gold-coloured bottom.
The conspiracist shared the video to his YouTube channel UFO Sightings Daily, captioning it: “UFO over hurricane seen from space station.”
