COVID-19 Suspends 'Family Karma' Season 2 Filming

Bravo’s Family Karma has reportedly paused filming season 2 after someone from production tested positive for COVID-19.

The series was reportedly picked up for another season and was shooting in Miami. Production paused for two weeks as contract tracing is being done, E reports. The cast has remained quiet about filming as many have remained focused on the election on their Instagram accounts.

However, Page Six reports that a cast member tested positive. A source shared that “rigorous safety protocols” are in place and that it was a cast member who is infected with COVID-19.

Vishal Parvani already had COVID-19

Shortly after Family Karma Season 1 debuted, Vishal Parvani announced he had contracted COVID-19.  “The results just came back today and I tested positive for the coronavirus,” he said in a video he posted to Instagram in late March. “I was quarantining myself for the past two weeks with my family and as soon as I found out I was exposed I further isolated myself.”

“Just to give you a quick update, I have been resting, eating well, drinking a lot of fluids and even working out,” he said. “Luckily I’ve been pretty asymptomatic for the most part besides a slight cough so luckily I’m doing really well.”

“But I just want to stress, please, please do not take this virus lightly,” he urged. “Please, if you can stay at home. If we all do our part, this will pass quickly, but please, please stay at home. My friends and family have been amazing and dropping off food in front of my door.”

Parvani revealed he has Crohn’s disease, which puts him at greater risk for a serious outcome from COVID-19. Thankfully, Parvani recovered and donated his plasma to help others.

‘RHONY’ also paused production due to COVID-19

Early rumors that a cast member from The Real Housewives of New York City tested positive for COVID-19 proved untrue. Initial reports suggested someone on the cast tested positive. However, it was a crew member on the production team who tested positive. Production was only paused and did not shut down, according to Page Six. The cast was soon spotted shooting in Greenport, NY.

COVID-19 also shortened filming for Below Deck Season 8. The series, which normally films for six weeks shut down early when the virus became a global threat. “You have to keep in mind that we’re pretty isolated there,” Captain Lee Rosbach told E! News. “We’re kind of like, in a cocoon…in spite of the fact that we have satellite, we have everything that we need, but it comes in a little bit late and a little bit tardy.”

Below Deck viewers will see the drama unfold as the crew learns about the virus while on the boat. “You’re wondering what’s really going on in the outside world and how much information are you getting,” Rosbach added. “And we still have our jobs to do.”
