The Lust List: New tech we want this week

It’s a tough gig, y’know, looking over all the new gadgets that’s arrived as we hurtle towards Prime Day, Black Friday or even…shhhh….Christmas.

Tech companies aren’t sitting around, either. There are plenty of new products making the rounds at the moment and we’ve selected some of the best offerings for this week’s list.

While some of the names are familiar (you’ve heard of Bose, right?) others may be new to you. Roku is best known for its streaming sticks (and excellent TV partnership with Hisense) but has now launched a fully-fledged soundbar.

Meanwhile, if you’re a Nintendo Switch fan, chances are you’ve been using lockdown to hone your Mario Kart skills. Well, thanks to Numskull, you can turn the regular Joy Con controller into an actual steering wheel.

Without further ado, here’s all the new tech we want this week.

Petcube Bites 2

Keep tabs on furry friends while ensuring your new sheepskin slippers don’t become a chew toy with this Alexa-enabled HD cam.

It boasts a 160-degree wide-angle lens, night vision and sound/motion alerts, and it even flings out food.

£155, amazon.com.

Bose Sleepbuds II

If blocking out unwanted racket is giving you nocturnal anxiety, Bose has once again lent its audio expertise to a new pair of noise-masking buds.

They replace unwanted external noise such as traffic, music and snoring with soothing sounds to keep you snoozing for longer.

£229.95, bose.co.uk.

Numskull Nintendo Switch Steering Wheel

If you’re into racing games like Gear Club Unlimited 2 or avoiding banana skins in Mario Kart, inject some interactivity into your digital car set-up with this wheely awesome motion-sensitive attachment.

Netatmo Smart video doorbell

Whether you’re out and about or don’t want to leave the sofa in your PJs, see who goes there with Netatmo’s latest 21st-century doorbell.

It will let your smartphone know when a visitor’s at the door or if someone’s suspiciously lurking outside

Ben Q V6000 short throw laser projector

You’d need a salary the size of a Stormzy’s to afford a TV big enough to cover an entire wall. However, a short-throw 4K projector like this plasters your wall/screen with up to 100 inches of virtual screen space.

£3,999 (available end of month), benq.co.uk.

Chipolo ONE Ocean Edition

Taking on the fight against ocean plastic pollution, Bluetooth tracker company Chipolo has transformed recycled ocean waste and has covered its latest GPS-toting thing finder with it, pledging $1 from each sale towards non-profit organisation Oceanic Global.

£27, chipolo.net.

Roku Streambar

Roku’s all-in-one approach to entertainment fuses a soundbar that won’t take up too much space under your gogglebox, with a 4K HDR streamer for access to all major streaming platforms. Google Assistant/Alexa control included, obviously.

£129.99 (available end of October), roku.com.

Huawei GT2 Pro

Everything about this gorgeous titanium-coated timepiece with ceramic backplate screams premium. Throw in health and sports-tracking capabilities, up to two weeks’ battery life and the fact it’s cheaper than a new Apple Watch, and you’re looking at an extremely attractive timepiece.
