Los Angeles-based homeware and furniture company Modernica has tapped Good Smile Racing for a collaborative project that reworks the Side Shell Eiffel chair.
Modernica has drawn influence from Good Smile Racing’s 2017 SUPER GT300 championship-winning Mercedes-AMG GT3 race car. The livery from this car inspires two unique designs that have been used to decorate two versions of the chair, with one sporting a checkered flag finish and the other appearing as if it has been sticker-bombed.

The Side Shell Eiffel is directly inspired by the chairs that were designed by Charles and Ray Eames for the 1948 Museum of Modern Art’s International Design Competition. Modernica makes its chair from fiberglass and has opted for a black metal base for both of these Good Smile Racing pieces.
Good Smile Racing and Modernica’s Side Shell Eiffel chair collection will drop on Good Smile Racing’s website on September 7 for $595 USD apiece. Take a closer look at them both above.
