Maya Jama to launch her own cosmetics collection after face mask success

SHE’S dominated your radio and telly – and now Maya Jama is taking on the beauty market.

The presenter is following big names including Kylie Jenner and Rihanna by launching her own cosmetics range.

Maya trademarked a new business last week and will flog face masks she has been developing.

A source explained: “Maya is really into her beauty and takes good care of her skin. She struggled to find face masks that suited her so decided to work on her own.

“This is just the beginning, she’s got big dreams about releasing a range of products, including hydrating serums and face washes.

“She’s a hard worker and whatever she puts her mind to will normally come to fruition. It’s early days but Maya’s team think this could be massive for her. The plan is to launch just in time for Christmas.

“They’re working on the marketing now and it’ll be sent out to influencers too for a massive push on social media.”

Maya left Radio 1 in May and landed a major TV presenting gig alongside Peter Crouch on his prime-time BBC show Save Our Summer.

I think 2021 is going to be Maya’s year.

Gaga is dressed to the nines

THE MTV Music Video Awards belonged to Lady Gaga as she cleaned up at Sunday’s ceremony.

She picked up five “Moonperson” awards – so named as the trophies are shaped like astronauts – and changed outfits a whopping NINE times, as pictured here.

Her success was shared with Ariana Grande, with their tune Rain On Me landing them Song of the Year, Best Collaboration and Best Cinematography. In a world TV premiere the pair performed the smash hit at the ceremony.

Gaga also won Best Artist and the ceremony’s new Tricon award, celebrating stars who’ve become icons in multiple fields such as music, acting and fashion.

The superstar, whose outfits were made by designers including Valentino and Yves Saint Laurent, welled up as she accepted the inaugural honour.

Picking up the award from supermodel Bella Hadid, Gaga said: “I want to share this award with everybody at home tonight, who is their own form of a Tricon. I want you to know that you can do this too.

“Just because we’re separated right now and culture may feel less alive, I know a renaissance is coming.”

Gaga, who won an Oscar for Best Song with Shallow, from her 2019 film A Star Is Born, added: “I wish for you to think of three things that define who you are and take a moment to reward yourself for your bravery. This has not been an easy year for a lot of people.”

Another performer on the night was Miley Cyrus. She sang Midnight Sky while swinging on a giant glitter ball in a nod to her Wrecking Ball video. She also picked up two awards for her Mother’s Daughter video.

It seemed like The Weeknd had had a rough week after he turned up looking like he’d broken his nose. But it was just make-up for his performance of Blinding Lights.

Yet the night truly did belong to the Poker Face singer. And long may she reign . . .

Mariah ex-pects grief

MARIAH Carey says her memoir is going to cause a stir on its release this month.

The diva explained: “I cried writing a lot of parts of this book. I’m sure I’m going to have to deal with a lot of people being upset with me.”

The singer said it will include her difficult relationship with her siblings Alison and Morgan, who she calls her “ex-sister” and “ex-brother”. She added: “They have been ruthlessly just heartless in terms of dealing with me for most of my life.

“I never would have spoken about my family at all had they not done it first.”

The Meaning Of Mariah Carey, the American’s debut autobiography, is out on September 29.
