Stars Who’ve Hit Back Against Body-Shamers

In an Instagram post, the 40-year-old “What About Us” singer is pictured concentrating while wakesurfing. Pink, born Alecia Moore, also has her thighs on full display in the sporty pic.

“I always wondered why God gave me thunder thighs,” she wrote via Instagram on Tuesday, August 18. “It’s cause he knew I’d use them. #throwingbuckets #strongismygoal #joyful #wakesurfgirl #somebodysponsormealready.”

Pink is no stranger to promoting encouraging messages about self-love. While accepting the Video Vanguard Award at the 2017 VMAs, she gave an emotional speech about helping her 9-year-old daughter, Willow, see that she’s beautiful the way she is. Her young one believed she was “the ugliest girl” because she thought she resembled a boy with long hair.

“I said, ‘You know, I really want to know why you feel this way about yourself.’ And she said, ‘Well I look like a boy.’ I said, ‘Well what do you think I look like?’ And she said, ‘Well you’re beautiful.’ And I was like, ‘Well, thanks. But when people make fun of me, that’s what they use. They say I look like a boy or I’m too masculine or I have too many opinions, my body is too strong.’”

Pink continued, “And I said to her, ‘Do you see me growing my hair?’ She said, ‘No, mama.’ I said, ‘Do you see me changing my body?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me changing the way I present myself to the world?’ ‘No, mama.’ ‘Do you see me selling out arenas all over the world?’ ‘Yes, Mama.’ ‘OK! So, baby girl. We don’t change.’”

In addition to Willow, Pink shares son Jameson, 3, with husband Carey Hart. After welcoming their second child in 2016, the Grammy winner opened up about staying positive during her post-baby weight loss journey.

“Would you believe I’m 160 pounds and 5’3”? By ‘regular standards’ that makes me obese,” she wrote via Instagram in April 2017, sharing an image of herself at the gym in workout gear. “I know I’m not at my goal or anywhere near it after Baby 2 but dammit I don’t feel obese. The only thing I’m feeling is myself. Stay off that scale ladies! #feelingmyself #strongismygoal #bodygoals.”
