Gethin Jones has reached the semi-finals of Celebrity MasterChef which aired tonight but left fans stunned after it was announced he would no longer be on the programme. The Welsh-born presenter has now revealed the real reason behind his departure from the show.
Taking to Twitter, Gethin explained that he had fallen ill with symptoms of coronavirus and was adament he couldn’t put “anyone at risk”.
In view of his 136,000 followers, the small-screen star thanked his fans as he admitted he was “absolutely gutted”.
He penned: “Thank you for all your lovely messages re @MasterChefUK. I had symptoms of Covid-19 the morning of the next stage. Absolutely GUTTED… but it was the easiest decision.”
He added: “Would never put anyone at risk. Enjoy the next hour – these guys can cook!!!”
