A STAFF member at a top boarding school is suing for £1.8million after breaking her wrist slipping on a wet floor.
Lindsey Shaw, 59, was boarding director and had taught English and been a housemistress at £35,000-a-year Mill Hill School in North London.
But she says her accident led to depression and chronic pain syndrome, which, in effect, put an end to her career.
Her barrister David White said Mrs Shaw was wearing good quality flat loafers when she fell, and that there were no signs in place to warn of the wet floor.
He claims the corridor should not have been cleaned when still in use and warning signs should have been in place.
The foundation behind the school accepts liability but is disputing the amount Mrs Shaw is due, claiming she should have taken more care.
The case will return for a full trial at Central London county court.
Former pupils include Richard Dimbleby and Sir Dennis Thatcher.
