Harry Potter fans are being reminded of a rather spicy moment that went down in the credits of The Prisoner of Azkaban, 16 years after it was originally released.
While viewers of the third film in the franchise have long been across the x-rated secret moment, hidden in the credits via the Marauder’s Map, a clip has been unearthed this week in a few articles.
And with it, many fans are reminiscing about the scene, while many others are being introduced to it for the first time.
If you’re new to the moment, or want to take a walk down memory Diagon Alley, what happens is, as the map – which shows the location of everyone within Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry with little footsteps either moving around or loitering – appears on screen we can see the footsteps of select people making their way around the place.
It didn’t take long for eagle-eyed viewers to have spotted in the bottom left corner of the shot two pairs of feet in a rather suspicious position.
Whether they’re merely making out (it is a children’s series, after all) or going for it with wild abandon (because there’s got to be something for the adults), we can only hope it’s in the restricted part of the library, away from prying eyes.
Mischief well and truly managed.
For one fan, who now has a lot of time to spend inside, a re-watching of the movie this month came with it the discovery of the saucy moment.
They wrote on Twitter: ‘Day ??? of the lockdown. I found the secret sex scene in Harry Potter and The Prisoner of Azkaban.’
Yes, this seems to be something that pops up every year with more and more fans voicing their shock and jumping aboard the OMG train from platform 9 ¾.
Rus Wetherell, the man in charge of the sequence, previously addressed the moment, having worked for over 20 days to complete the credits scene.
According to him, he decided to add the couple after staying up until 4am working.
He told The Huffington Post in 2015: ‘There was an alcove in the artwork, it was kind of like an opportunity to have a couple of students hiding in there.
‘So I just threw a couple of feet down. It was just something there that was amusing for the adults in the audience and kids wouldn’t really understand.’
Something new to whet the whistle of fans who have apparently seen it all does come in the form of Potter author JK Rowling releasing a surprise children’s book this week, The Ickabog.
Sharing a few chapters each day, the iconic writer thought she’d bring a little good to this whole situation we’re currently in (not saying the word, not saying the word) by releasing the book online for free so punters can spend some time immersing themselves in the tale ahead of its November release in print.
