Spain has been one of the worst affected countries hit by coronavirus, with more than 250,000 confirmed cases resulting in more than 25,000 deaths. While those figures are nowhere near the numbers the USA is recording in terms of COVID-19, they are the second-highest in the world. A conspiracy theorist now believes aliens are monitoring the situation in the European country.
A video from YouTuber Oana Grigoras shows an odd blue light in the sky’s clouds above Madrid.
The video was quickly picked up by conspiracy theorists, who believe the light was caused by a UFO.
Prominent UFO hunter Scott C Waring argued aliens are monitoring humans in the Spanish capital in order to learn about how people deal with stressful situations.
Mr Waring claimed on his blog ET Database: “This blueish purple UFO was caught by Youtuber Oana Grigoras.
“She watched in amazement as a glowing blue object in the sky above Madrid, Spain, began to appear and then disappear several times. She managed to catch a little of it on video for us to see.
“It looks like a large UFO with two huge black windows.
“The object seems to be hovering in place, hiding within the clouds as it watches from above.
“Spain is currently struggling with the coronavirus with most of its citizens dealing with lockdown. Deaths in Spain have [reached more than 25,000].
“That’s a lot for a small country. This UFO may be monitoring how humans deal with such complex situations and stress.”
While the existence of aliens has never been confirmed, the US’ Department of Defense has recently acknowledged a video from a US Navy pilot’s radar footage of a mystery UFO with “glowing aura” and flying erratically.
The video first circulated back in 2017, but it took the DoD three years to acknowledge the video’s existence.
According to Pentagon spokeswoman Sue Gough, the sighting was released “in order to clear up any misconceptions by the public on whether or not the footage that has been circulating was real, or whether or not there is more to the videos”.

She said: “After a thorough review, the department has determined that the authorized release of these unclassified videos does not reveal any sensitive capabilities or systems and does not impinge on any subsequent investigations of military air space incursions by unidentified aerial phenomena.”
When the 2017 footage emerged, a former Pentagon employee Luis Elizondo, who headed up a secret official UFO program, said it was “compelling evidence” we might not be alone in the universe.
Mr Elizondo said: “These aircraft – we’ll call them aircraft – are displaying characteristics that are not currently within the US inventory nor in any foreign inventory that we are aware of.
“Things that don’t have any obvious flight services, any obvious forms of propulsion, and manoeuvring in ways that include extreme manoeuvrability beyond, I would submit, the healthy G-forces of a human or anything biological.”
