Huawei delivers surprise P30 Pro news that Google fans will love to hear

Huawei looks to have stealthily unveiled a brand new smartphone – which will come with Google apps loaded onto it. As revealed in a post by Huawei Central, the official Huawei Germany website has quietly announced the P30 Pro New Edition handset. This latest smartphone from Huawei will be available under a promo offer from May 15 till June 4.

The next iteration of the P30 Pro will come with a brand new skin as well as more storage than last year’s model.

But one of the best things about the P30 Pro New Edition will be that it features Google apps loaded straight out of the box.

Unlike the recently released P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro, the P30 Pro wasn’t affected by the US trade ban that Donald Trump enforced last May.

The P40 Pro and Mate 30 Pro both run Android as it’s open source software, but don’t have the Google Play Store already installed.

  • Samsung strikes major victory over rivals, but it’s not all good news

To get the Play Store on these devices Huawei fans have to take advantage of a few tricks up their sleeve to get access to apps from Google and other major names.

But the re-release of the P30 Pro is a workaround for this issue, as the handset has already received certification for access to the Play Store.

So the P30 Pro New Edition – unlike other 2020 Huawei releases – should offer access to Google apps as Gmail and Google Maps

Facebook, Netflix, WhatsApp, Instagram and other major apps that aren’t available on the Huawei AppGallery will also be downloadable on the latest P30 Pro device.

The caveat to all of this, however, is Huawei are yet to make an official announcement on the P30 Pro New Edition.

Evidence of the handset’s impending release was discovered in the T&Cs of the Huawei Germany website.

  • iPhone SE has competition: Samsung, Sony and Huawei fight back

The news comes as Huawei founder Ren Zhengfei recently made some candid remarks about his firm’s in-development operating system HarmonyOS.

Announced last year after Trump put Huawei on the US entity list, the OS has yet to be released by the Shenzhen-based tech giant.

Speaking about the software’s prospects, Ren admitted HarmonyOS was not a rival to Android and iOS.

And the Huawei bigwig frankly admitted it was his firm’s solution to being put on the US entity list.

Ren explained: “The operating systems of Android and Apple have enjoyed massive sales in the world as consumers have become accustomed to them.

“Huawei is a latecomer, so it would be very difficult to surpass the operating systems of Android and Apple.”

Ren also opened the door to Huawei working with American companies, describing the US as a “good friend”.

He said: “We procured US$18.7 billion worth of parts from the US last year, a big increase from US$11 billion in the past.

“We are not thinking of replacing US components.

The US will always be our good friend.”
